You referred to them not meeting the basic terms of the conditions in their statement and I didn't think they'd made any clear ones. If you're assuming based on the media then cool, but its just as likely that Nick W and the fees received were the conditions. Doesn't matter much though but it would be interesting to hear from the club at some point.

Personally, I suspect it's somewhere in middle and Isaks continued stance maybe softened their view but don't think its a complete climbdown

yeah true, but the fact that we've heard this from all over the place for around a month, I assumed that this probably was actually the stance that the club had taken. Replacement for Wilson. Replacement for Isak. Certain amount of money. If their conditions were much less than that, then fair enough. Still a terrible look for the club.

Liverpool attacking backup is currently  Elliot, Chiesa and the Rio lad.  We could’ve pushed them further.

Levy routinely gets his value. He got £100m for a 30 year old Kane with 1 year left on his contract. Only Bayern interested.

One of Wolves or Brentford will get within 5% of their asking price I’m convinced.

Dude, Isak went on strike all summer. He didn't even play a preseason game, and Eddie had to deal with questions about him constantly. You think we could've kept him if we didn't get a big transfer fee?

Once Isak threw a fit, we weren't getting 150.

It's too soon to say if Wolves or Brentford will get this or that, or if selling for 130 and getting Wissa and Nick is a bad move.

These kinds of opinions usually dont age well, especially with Eddie running things.

I understand all the criticisms of not getting the 150 etc, but people seem to forget we were in a lose-lose situation. We’re in a place of deciding which of the bad outcomes we’ll take.

Again, that’s Isak’s fault not ours.

Has anybody got a link to this £150 million we wanted ?

Only ever seen the press quite this figure not NUFC.

Plus at 125 without loyalty makes the real price closer to 140 if we had to pay him.

Some have taken the 150m and skewed it as "150 or nothing" rather than it being a negotiating position.

Its been reported for weeks that the fee was never an issue. Weve got a British record fee.

The issue is that the club have weakened themselves on the pitch. In order for this to work, we need another striker.

The club will have weighed all this up and made the decision they felt was best for them. They haven't just buckled and given in, it'll be a calculated decision.

It's a gamble - nothing more.

It does feel we dropped the ball at some point. Whether it was Staveley, Mitchell, Howe, it seems clear Isak's been told something and it's not happened. The way he's went on has been abysmal but we might have at least got a few games out of him and a few goals/points before he left. Mitchell is the easy one to blame and it's probably him, with him losing his job as a result of it.

If it was Mitchell though and we've acted by sacking him, Isak could have given the squad and Howe the courtesy of showing up until we fixed things, whether it be a contract or selling on the right terms.

Letting things get so bad with Isak is also partly the fault of the ownership. A dickheas DOF that fucked off and a sick CEO partially led to the gao between Isak and the club.

You called it!

 damn

To be fair I was very reserved in the beginning when Isak pulled out of the training camp with a minor injury, I didn't want to jump to conclusions until there were solid evidence and thought he'd still be a Newcastle player at the end of the window. When Isak released his statement on instagram that was the confirmation for me that he wanted away, but I still thought the club would be more hard headed with their demands to let him go.

If Eddie Howe is still the manager at 9am tomorrow then that's all the evidence you need that the club has operated in its best interests.

You think that the Eddie Howe you know up until now would do that 3 games into the season and leave us in that position? No chance. Regardless of his own views he'll present a united front. Him still being here means nothing in terms of his own feelings on the matter, never mind whether that would make this a good move in my mind if it did.

Yes, we have been anything but shrewd.

fwiw, Kane is a significantly better footballer than Isak and proved it by breaking the Bundesliga record.

100M was not an overpay if you use him correctly, something Southgate struggled with.

Yeah once he played this out the way he did it’s been a case of ‘least bad’

How much do Sociedad get?

Depends. Don't think it's been clearly reported whether its a percentage of the profit of his next transfer or a percentage of the total transfer fee.

Would be interesting to see how you guys would react if Eddie comes out and say that it was his and the players decision.

I think that's exactly what's happened. It's still the most horrible feeling to sell to them cunts but slightly more accepting if it was Eddie's decision.
