Don’t think he ever scored an open play goal for us in the last 10 mins of a game he started?

Mind, Liverpool’s additional strength in depth should mean he’s playing less when clearly fucked.

I do think think that some players, including Isak in this, will come here and the way we play and train will have them thinking "nah, fuck that" after a season or two

You're expected to constantly run through walls pressing and PSR means our squad depth isn't big enough to share the load across a big pool of players.

I imagine our training sessions are extremely intense, both physically and mentally

Isak certainly wasn't up to it beyond 60 mins and Gordon is gassed beyond 60 mins too. They have the pace but not the stamina. They can have less intense physical demands put on them by playing elsewhere.

Whereas compare to Sandro or Bruno or even BDB, who can maintain high levels of stamina across the full 90 mins. Not surprising they're thriving under Sir Edward of Howe

Anyone feel like Isak has become vastly more highly rated as a player in the eyes of the media since all this has happened? Last season pundits frequently referred to him as "one of the best strikers in the league", now he's instantly "the best striker in the world" according to a lot of them.

The latter may or may not be true, but I just find it funny that there was a reluctance to go to that extreme when he played for us.

It's a fair point, almost as if a world class striker shouldn't belong to a club like Newcastle.

Noticed Sky spoke to Gyokeres at the Swedish camp yesterday about Isaks move and what had gone on.

Unsurprisingly, he backed him, but he also had his own fall out with Sporting in order to leave/join Arsenal.

"In footballing history"
You'd think they'd just bought Diego Maradona at his peak.

Stupid cunt.

EDIT : That's canny embarrassing for him. Getting a public dressing down from Salah.

Talksport earlier, they were talking about the Botman and Gordon public well wishes. Jim White saying it was wrong, Simon Jordan asking why, and saying its just how players do things these days... all on social media.

There was an interesting comment though at the end, which cut off before really being answered.

Did Isak actually refuse to train and/or play? Did EH ever say that? Or was it that he was just told to train alone and not selected, and thus, certain players wont feel as bad towards him if it wasn't all his decision?

I know we have that rumour of certain players being angry/needing to be restrained, but I did wonder if the not training/playing was Isak refusing, or more the club keeping him away from the group to avoid the distraction.

Either way, its all done, and we move forward without him. Onwards and (hopefully) upwards.

I don't think there's a single chance Isak wouldn't have put that in his wee statement.

If hadn't refused to train or play, didn't have a transfer request, why was he separate?

If I was being massively stereotypical (and potentially a bit racist), I’d say Wissa looks like he’s got the same genetic makeup as them Kenyans that knock out two-hour marathons, so he should be sound.

Club statement said he was welcome back to training when he was ready / could be arsed.

Yeah, forgot that line. And as stated, Isak/his camp never refuted any of the comments/allegations.

Good post.  I'd say there is some truth in that.  Some definitely thrive under this set up and they feel like their ability is being realised and maximized under Howe and enjoy the running through brick walls part.  Someone like Joelinton would be right at the head of that queue, I'd imagine.  Even with some of the recent injuries.  Others possibly can't stand it and would be keen to leave should a bigger club or a club offering more money come in for them.

Also, that just reminded me.  A Liverpool fan saying last night that Tonali would seem out of the game and then just appear to win the ball back or slow play down.  Couldn't believe how good his engine was.

That Father Ted gif has been getting hammered of late.  Feel like it may be getting used again
