Nobody at Liverpool wanted to give Salah his new contract. They were pretty much forced into it by their fanbase. Should have stuck to their guns.

VVD and salah should have left on a high, instead they are ruining their legacy. Love to see it.

What is it with Dutch managers wanting to take on the club's best and highest profile player? Obviously Gullit here , Ten Hag with Rashford, Sancho and Ronaldo, Koeman with Barkley (when Barkley was considered one of the best young players in the country) at Everton, Van Gaal with Rivaldo at Barca and then Van Persie at International level.

I'm not sure dropping him after he's been rubbish all season is really taking him on.

Although the Dutch are always preety argumentative and forthright in their views. Johan Cruyff could start an argument in an empty room

It’s the size of the contract too. He knows he holds all the aces in this situation. Earning tenfold what his manager does.

In this respect I do think a salary cap is a good idea, in some ways at least. No player should be earning 300k+ a week, I know I’d lose the run of myself at even a small fraction of that and lose my motivation, career wise anyway. Fuck you money I think they call it.

This Liverpool situation is hilarious like, and while I wouldn't say I saw this calamity of a season unfolding for Liverpool as it is, I did expect a bit of a drop off, mainly as last season, while they where the best side in the league, they never blew me away in any real performance, and in the league had no real pressure at any point (Infact in the two games they did have that pressure last year, they wilted, against us in the final and against PSG in the Champions League ), they where just really efficient and kept grinding out wins while other (mainly Man City) came up short, and for the most part the tactic was "Give the ball to Salah and watch the magic happen", and that may work initially, but teams are now wise to it, and it looks like they're seeing how the rest of their squad is relatively ineffective, especially at the back.

This situation couldn't happen to a better football club and this Salah situation is the icing on the cake, long may it continue.

One thing i have enjoyed just now is going back to page 1 of the Isak thread in RAWK.

Oh how the mighty have fallen.

They honestly thought they were going to trample the league and win CL. It's hilarious what's happened to them. Waiting all this time to become 'the best club in the world' and you've got more problems than anyone else. Please don't let it stop!

Genuine question, does the rat regret his actions and the outcome of those actions?

I think he knows he massively fucked up.

One one level perhaps. He'll have gone there expecting to win the premier league. Clearly not happening now.

On the other hand he's set for life money wise which I suspect wins out.

Doubt it, got the “big” move he wanted and a massive pay rise. Guys a psychopath, cold, calculating, manipulative. He got want he wanted, may not have worked out so far but he got what he wanted.

Have you considered going on strike, Mohamed?

Salah states in the interview that the club made promises to him last summer and haven't followed up on them. He can copy and paste this:

"When promises are broken and trust is lost, the relationship can't continue. That's where things are for me right now - and why change is in the best interests of everyone, not just myself." Alex Isak

He would have set for life money wise if he'd stayed here. His next contract would likely have been 200k+ a week over 5 or 6 years.

If that can't set you up for life when he'll already be a Millionaire you're doing something wrong.

When you're as wealthy as the average top level PL footballer is I'd suspect, whilst it's still a big motivation, scoring goals and being genuinely happy and enjoying being at the top of your profession is surely your biggest ambition and watching his body language on the pitch, his lethargic performances, seeing how he's behaved in recent interviews suggests that's not him. It's going to get worse for him as he'll have to get used to playing 2nd fiddle to Ekitike who looks a far better player

I honestly believe that if he could wind the clock back to last July that's exactly what he'd do.
