Isak will write his own history at the club and make the 14 ionic - he's truly world class.

After that interview with Shearer the other week I think he needs the #9 shirt, he has no affiliation to #14, was just the best number available

I don’t think that’s correct, I’m sure I heard him say recently he’s always liked the number 14 and feels comfortable wearing it.

Should he have the number 9 next year?

Wilson out of contract in June 2025. Not that he could really mount a resistance if Isak asked for it [emoji38]

Isak is every bit a 14 imo. Cruyff, Henry, or in our case Ginola, Remy, Colback

Feel like that was just Isak wanting to deflate the Henry stuff (which shearer appeared to be benignly prompting). We were about to play Arsenal and Isak was maybe aware of what games the media were and still are playing. Of course he threw in one of our own number fourteen legends because he’s mint and dreamy and I love him.

Love Wilson and admire his ego (and fucking hell, why wouldn’t he have an ego after his career and what he looks like) but I vividly remember those podcasts in our CL run where he was talking, with absolute sincerity, about the competition between them. I know fuck all about football and even I wondered at the time if one day Callum may listen back and cringe slightly.

I'd like to see him wearing the number 9, like, definitely. I'd like for that to still be an important piece of club culture and he would wear it very well. Sadly I don't think he gives a fuck about that particular tradition.

Controversial possibly - but do we still need the iconic No. 9 jersey. In my 60 years it has been a bit of a crutch to a not too successful team perhaps it is no longer required as a talisman to past success?

Nothing associated with us needs to carry any baggage or negative expectations now, we're a new club.

I would kind of like to see Isak wear 9 but also can't help a bit of superstation about changing his shirt when he's done so well. Despite what I just said

I hate to be the voice of doom but I honestly don’t think he’ll sign a new contract, I think he’ll stay another year then depending on if we get CL he’ll with his options next summer.

These are two mutually exclusive scenarios; it must be one or the other.

Financially, for Isak (with three years remaining on his contract this summer), the decision is between signing a new contract or seeking a transfer. If he only had two years left, that would be more easily understood. His agent and advisors would be negligent if they did not recognize this significant financial consideration. He would risk forfeiting at least one to two million pounds in wages.

His rumored current weekly wage is £120,000. If offered £180,000 to £200,000 per week, he might consider signing with a release clause or an agreement allowing him to leave the following year if the team fails to meet certain targets or if a suitable club makes an offer.

Not signing, and not moving means he is losing at least £60,000 in wages weekly. This makes little financial sense, as he could still pursue a transfer the following year.

This is why the route from St James' (I would have started South Gosforth, travel to St James' then to the town moor, but never mind) to the town moor was a no brainer. It means the people in the city and the surrounding areas can attend. The whole route is going to be absolute chocka block, with everyone giving their utter adulation throughout. Everyone on the bus, players, coaching staff, directors and the wife's are going to be blown away by what they experience.

There were people on here advocating for Wilson starting ahead of him. Or shifting him out wide or to 10 to accommodate Wilson.

When we finished 4th. The way both were playing and scoring. It wouldn’t be as ridiculous to suggest we play both, TBF. But Wilson starting ahead of Isak is just daft.

Mental when people continually wanted Isak shifting out on the left.

To be fair he played most of the second half the other night out wide left, with him cutting in at times.

He's not a typical number 9 per se, he's got the fucking lot!!!
