Garang Kuol (on loan at FC Volendam)

0-0 at half time, but it's pretty much all been Ajax and they have missed some great chances. Volendam had a couple of corners near the end, but it's largely been a case of them hanging on, and they do very much look like the plucky 11/1 underdogs.

I think Kuol's replacement Johnson has touched the ball once, and suspect it would have been similar if Garang had been on, but hopefully he will get some minutes in the second half.

Mola TV is really good, especially for a free app. English comms and can get it to full screen, so just like watching on FreeSports or something.

Played 67 mins last week in Volendam's 3-0 loss to AZ Alkmaar.

Only saw highlights but in a losing side he was the main threat - had a 1 on 1 saved and set up a great chance that wasn't taken. Body language was poor - like he couldn't give a fuck half the time - but maybe that's his schtick?

FC Volendam are an absolute shambles this season, mainly off the pitch. There has been a power struggle between the board of directors and the supervisory board, with all directors and technical staff stepping away from the club last week. The conflict is about the level of yearly loss the directors are running the club at to have it compete at Eredivisie level, which the supervisory board find is threatening the future of the club altogether. They are normally a great club for developing youth development, but since it is currently a basket case a recall may indeed be in order. Hard to gauge what level Kuol should be playing at though, considering he's not really broken into their first team this year and last season's loan was a write off. Maybe after two failed loans it's best to give the lad some time to get settled in Newcastle, as part of our youth setup and occasionally propping up our ravaged first team squad.

Considering the state of his last two teams then, is it safe to bring him here?

There's certainly an irony that considering our injury crisis he'd have probably been in the squad for most of this season if around. Obviously based on these loan spells he's a fair way off PL standard - but then clearly so are the likes of Parkinson, Ndiweni, Diallo etc who have been on the bench recently.

What about recalling this lad? Got to be better than seeing Almiron do the same stupid stuff week in, week out. Maybe some raw unpredictability might be what is needed.

No. He’s not even a regular starter for the worst team in Eredivisie ffs.

Unused sub today when they were at home and a goal behind most of the Second Half.

I think next season we need to keep him here, try and develop him ourselves and see how he goes from there.

Should be recalling him now tbh. No point to him warming a bench in fucking Volendam.

NUFC keep loaning him to clubs well above the level he’s at right now.  Hearts then Voldendam.  He should have been sent to the fourth tier in England a la Anderson.  Australians won’t admit it, but there is a significant quality jump from the A-League to the Scottish Premier or the Eredivisie.  Kuol wasn’t even a regular here in Oz.
