Been saying it for years that the handball rule could be made very simple by simply asking the question “did the player gain an advantage from it hitting their hand”. Gets rid of any deeming it deliberate or in a unnatural position bollocks.

yeah, exactly. If it doesn’t hit his arm Bournemouth likely easily defend the cross. Seems absolutely insane to give a penalty because they didn’t score from the advantage the deflection gave the opposition. Really silly arbitrary rule.

But it wasn’t given for that reason. It was given because the ball hit his hand and his hand was out above his head. Forget what happened after that, that’s why it was given.

 

If that wasn’t given against us I’d be raging. Whether you like the rule or not that’s a different matter, but the rules the rules.
