That was actually the perfect use of VAR, and how it should be implemented and used, as in real time, that looked like an inch perfect tackle, and you can understand exactly why the ref didn't give that, but it was clear it was a mistake from an alternate angle, and was rightly switched.

I see the contact that you are all discussing I just don’t see the foul in the action. Not sure what the defender prevented as Martinez was slipping. Wouldn’t even be discussed anywhere else on the pitch.

You don't win CLs defending like that. Traditionally, trying to simply outscore the opposition for 2 sets of 90 minutes without ever thinking about consolidation in spells, will catch you against good sides.

It's the type of penalty that Gordon made an art form out of winning last season but I'm not sure I'm in favour of them even though by the letter of the law it's a pen, Martinez clearly played for the penalty by moving his foot between the defender and the ball, never made any attempt to play the ball.
