They're professional footballers. No one gives a shit about any merit beyond that where men are concerned. You have to remember that women footballers are only at the start of being involved and they're doing it knowing fine well they'll be under the microscope, scrutinised, and that people will have opinions like yours. I can't imagine it's easy to immediately be as good as they would want to be in those circumstances.

Probably a better general rule to judge each person based on what they have to say rather than anything else like.

Well why can’t they start on women’s games or non league, work themselves up to the top? IMO they’ve been skyrocketed right to the top based on gender alone.

I agree that they’re highly scrutinized and under the microscope but they’re not succeeding and living in the moment, they’re folding under the pressure and the little things you hear on football commentary aren’t there like anecdotes or analysis. They’re usually two to three seconds behind the play but what? I’m supposed to feel sorry for them? Perhaps they’d be more comfortable at a slower paced game like women’s football for instance.

Game pretty much confirms what we knew ahead of Sunday, Arsenal are great going forward but can be got at at the back.

Having Longstaff back and putting Jo on the left would help to keep Saka quiet.

Pretty sure that's where women have been prior to this, alongside men, male managers and so on, I should add. There was no problem with that and it's a two-way street.

If you're trying to say that these negative traits amongst women co-commentators are simply down to them being women, rather than them just not being very good in the same way so many men co-commentators are shit in their own way, then I dunno what to say really like. I mean it's clearly sexist like, so I suppose that's what I'd say.

My problem is they’re slower at reading the game and most of their voices sound like pre pubescent boys. A lot of the time there’s dead air and you guys can laugh and joke and say I’d rather hear silence than XYZ commentator, when an actual incident occurs and you’re looking to your broadcasters to explain the situation, a lot of the time, there’s no explanation.

Not going to wade too far into the male / female commentator debate as there are just loads of shit commentators but my main gripe with a handful of female commentators has been their need to constantly keep talking and explaining everything that’s happening. That’s fine for the radio but on the TV I like to at least have some pauses.

I have far more gripes to raise with individual male commentators though. there are loads I could raise but the qualities of arrogance, talking flat out shit, talking some players up like crazy, asking rhetorical questions like “now, is that a foul, hmm, the referee doesn’t think so” so that you don’t actually have to say anything at all etc
