Was trying to think why it is so bad and thought that potentially it is the most under trained area. I reckon most women (me included) who like playing football would probably just want to actually play football. And if you maybe weren't good enough, you'd be pigeon holed into being a keeper if you were tall or whatever but I think training for that starts late.

With better investment over the years and it becoming more of a profession, I think we will see it improve.

Yeah it's definitely an area that needs the most work.

I hate comparing the two, but it's so hard not to when you have only watched male football for over four decades.

The Dutch Goalie on the fourth literally dived after the ball went in the net, but you do see it so often the keeping let's the game down quite a bit, not trying to be overtly critical, just observing and feeling it was quite off.

The other thing, England could have just played long ball, as near enough every long pass up field results in Netherlands having no anticipation of where the ball is heading, they simply gave the striker a field day.

Was a tough watch if you're a Netherlands fan.

As a female poster, hope you didn't take my original comment in some male chauvinist manner. [emoji38]

Alonso won't last the season based on the showings here. Totally disjointed

It’s a tough one. Seems to be a coach who relies on full team buy in but with Mbappe and Vinicius who’ve already decided they’re above hard work is going to be hard graft albeit against 95% won’t be an issue.

An absolute nightmare to manage. Obviously unreal and can win a game single handedly but if they’re not in the mood or get marked out they’re a total passajero.

Having two attackers who won't defend on the modern game is a disaster when you come up against any opposition in your ballpark.

They can get away with it against Getafe at home, but id love to welcome them to SJP and send them back with a hiding.

No i didn't at all! When I watched it I felt the same with the goalie. Of course it happens in the men's game but very rarely is it that obvious. But its an area where you can really see the difference in skill. So it got me thinking. I mean no one ever wanted to be in goal when we were playing, it was just something someone had to do. I actually enjoyed it but I wouldn't say I preferred it.

The competition in men's football means that goalkeepers are actively sought after from a young age. Makes a huge difference. Hopefully we see some huge improvements maybe even due to Mary Earps and how she promoted goalkeeping. Im sure she made a difference. But yeah its definitely a stick to beat womens football with but I didn't feel like you did! Was just literally thinking the same thing, that it let's the overall quality down.

I just wish more people would understand why rather than thinking women are just shit 🤣

Assuming the likes of Chelsea, Real & PSG will just not bother with pre-season training? You'd think just giving the players 2-3 weeks of absolute rest and bringing them back a week before the first League game will be the logical thing? They'll still be match fit, probably just going to need 1-2 matches a week beforehand.

Few teams are in Madrid’s ballpark.

They still managed to beat Juve, Leipzeig and Dortmund pretty comfortably. Atletico and Man City last season.

They can mostly get away with it at Dortmund away and the like. But the elite it’s an issue.

Yeah that's what I'm referring to, Dortmund are nothing special at present.

Gosh Chelsea are annoying. You would hate this run would tire them out for the season. But half the side has barely played last season or won’t play next season.

Tosin was behind an academy lad in the league last season. He’s played every game in this more or less. Don’t thINK Nkunku even stays at the club.

I guess I was referring to us beating them at SJP.

On our best day we can beat anyone tbf. Under Alonso and more months on the training pitch I expect them to be better.

Aye, I'm sure they will improve but playing with 9 men in the defensive phase is rough.

We clap them like we did PSG at SJP under the lights though.

They are trying to shift Nkunku yes, Palmer and that injury stole his thunder he's looked a shadow of the player he can be during his stay at Chelsea.

Bayern linked with him, Luis Diaz and Xavi Simons in the last 24 hours.

Yeah, dismal stuff; embarrassing. Don't know the details, hopefully it was an incredibly small amount of people. The York squad is incredibly diverse too. Sorta shit that will keep them pinned down lower than they ought to be.

Daily Mail saying Maresca has been trialling Nkunku has a defensive midfielder in a "bid to find a place for him in the side". [emoji38]

Please let him be holding midfield tonight and get absolutely annihilated.
