Not sure you can throw not being well coached at them, they have won 11 in a row.

look at our results over the last two seasons. You don’t fluke consistency like that.

the one thing we are is undeniably well coached.

Villa have a way of grinding out results - something we could learn from.

What I like is we can win by playing excellently (Arsenal, Man City), but also by grinding one out when needed (Wolves recently) and by pure fucking spirit (today).

You can’t rely on always playing a blinder. It’s just not like that.

Villa are basically last season’s Nottingham Forest. No idea how they’re doing it playing like this. They aren’t good or particularly well coached.

The difference is Forest were and are a relegation squad. Aston Villa have been fighting for UCL spots for a few seasons now. I can't see them dropping the way Forest did.

They're well coached at what they do. They sit in a very well organised midblock and break with pace, but they've also undoubtedly rode their luck at times this season.

Given the cushion they've built up, they should comfortably finish top five from here amd you'd expect them to go deep in the EL.

By that token Palace have achieved more than us and Villa.  The biggest achievements on the pitch don’t tell the entire story of the clubs.

Never seen Palace in the UCL or multiple semi finals. No slight against Palace who I agree are a very good team and the club have recently achieved great things also.

Just let’s not forget what we’ve achieved also and from what base point. It’s clear from your other posts you are having a wobble but don’t do it at the expense of dismissing what we’ve achieved in every competition since the owners took over. FA Cup the only one up for any debate as being under par yet look at the draws we got (Man City away) and the gut punch of VAR (Brighton). Shef Wed came at a bad point for us also but mistakes made that game with too many changes.

Honestly, this is all totally wrong. I’ll explain why later.

You didn’t loan players hoping to qualify for UCL and despite initial positive impact they didn’t get you over the line in the Cup Semis. Didn’t win the UCL and most importantly for the club to progress on a higher projectory that they did this summer leaving a few players wanting to leave (Martinez…Watkins both unhappy?) didn’t get you top 5?

If that is all wrong I’m all ears

You’re a good side doing a good job and disrupting the established order.

Same as us but you were starting from a better position than us when Emery joined in 2021.

If at least both our sides (and hopefully others) can continue to bloody the noses of the established order every season then we might be getting somewhere in terms of breaking their stranglehold.

You are absolutely not a fluke and I find it laughable that you’re compared to what Forest did last season.

The big thing to take from that is that, we were getting battered for an hour, then Emery makes a triple substitution and totally changes the game, and we win.

After years of managers who'd just stand and stare and change nothing, it's incredibly refreshing.

Watkins just gave a really nice tatctical breakdown of the changes he made to Sky and said Emery was a tactical genius

Emery joined them in 2022, and they weren't in a better position by then.

Villa run is great fun for their fans. Will collapse because all the underlying stats says so, but they have positioned themselves to get UCL which is the main aim.

Giving the age of their squad and the work needed, that’s massive for them. Just need to ensure Monchi doesn’t blow it.

We’ve not won a trophy as prestigious as the FA Cup.  Our league cup win is all we have over Villa in the time period I’m talking about.

Im not diminishing anything we’ve achieved. Off the pitch that was built ok the back of Staveleys leadership. Howe kept it together on the pitch off the backs of the squad he built with Staveley and Ashworth and in spite of the clubs poor hires and leadership. That’s why made last season extra special- we lost our off pitch leaders, had a shit summer and still came out on top. Again in spite of what was poor leadership.

We had another shitshow summer and this year there isn’t a Staveley era signing or 2 to help bail us out.

Villa are going to finish in the top 6 for the fourth successive season. 4 seasons of European football from league finishes. Got 66 points while going deep in the CL and FA Cup. Missed out on CL last season on GD, wheeled and dealed some more, sold ladies team now back in the CL hunt.  That’s not just down to great coaching by Emery.  But the owners have Done a great job to keep them there.

Saudi bucks obviously supported us. But apart from Howe and his team all the brains behind our success have left.
