Kid Icarus Posted Saturday at 20:54 Share Posted Saturday at 20:54 Only watched the highlights because fuck that, but how on earth were the 14 separate handballs by Saka not given in the Champions League of all things?

Why else would you be watching penalties of all these other games. It sums up the approach to management (I'm thinking Arteta here, but I think it's endemic on a wider level) - approaching every facet of the game as a fixed static element where the percentage can be tilted in your favour. There's not much romance or purism to this. The existence of VAR probably only encourages this kind of approach as a variable coaches can control under the assumption the 'right' decision will ultimately be given. Totally agree, sportsmanship has given way to cheating and identifying every single way a team can gain advantage, particularly when it comes to trying to win free-kicks around the area and penalties. It is easy to blame the referees but it is the managers who should be being called out as it will be them who are instructing players what to do. Not sure how you stop it as cheating has become endemic.

Not sure how you stop it as cheating has become endemic. Madueke gets Mendes in an arm lock and then there is a foul after it. Which foul comes first? It’s like the West Ham goal all over again… Also, Saliba clearly shoves Kvara in the back just as he’s about to shoot. Doesn’t go down like a sack of spuds. Nobody mentions it. I’ve also not heard much mention of the fact Mosquera should have been off for a second yellow after an hour. The cheek of these cunts to complain about decisions. When they push the envelope every week with their dark arts/cheating. Glad they lost the more I think about it. Would have been terrible for football if the dark side won. It massively tarnishes any claims Mbappe has to being the best player these days. Sends him down the ranks. Dont think I could tell you who I think is the best player in the world anymore though, it’s gone very flat at the top

toon25 Posted Saturday at 22:00 Share Posted Saturday at 22:00 (edited) Haaland, Kane, maybe? Only by virtue of goals. Outside of that? The names that come up are ones that I'd not look forward to facing as a supporter, but have a long way to go before making it into the elite cohort. There are loads of great to watch players. Yamal, Kvara, Olise and loads others I’ve missed. But I don’t think they’re the best if you’re looking at numbers. Never failed to be impressed by Joao Neves and Vitinha. EDIT - I forgot Dan Burn. Paul Dummett would have been in. But he’s retired now. Probably between him and Kvara. Rice and Gabriel also has to be up there, though obviously for very different reasons.

Neves and Vitinha in that PSG have a very good shout. Obviously not tonight because they were up against the Ice Bucket Challenge of football teams but other than that, watching them run the show is great.
