For a player of his supposed excellence, I'd expect him to be braver and stay in the space between the opposition midfield and defence. Not very impressed by him thus far and think the often compared Musiala is the far more courageous and incisive player.

Northern Ireland woke up after that and have been pretty good second half. I thought Luxembourg looked quite good too tbh. Northern Ireland scored a cracking goal, then a third after Luxembourg went down to 10 men. I know somebody here said they’re just lower division players but I think the standard has been pretty good. They’re young, and some of those players are legit. Galbraith was absolutely brilliant for Leyton Orient last year and he looks the part here. Really enjoyable game. Ref’s done a pretty even job too, which has helped. leffe186
They might be really young. Just brought on two 20-year old subs including one of our kids (Jamie Donley who scored that mental FA Cup goal for Orient v Man City).

Disco
Noticed the Athletic are advertising WC ticket packages on their platforms now; can’t wait for their in-depth reads and pods into why the US is the best host ever and such a great thing for football and club owners and broadcasters (definitely doesn’t benefit their owners balance sheet.) We're (Toronto) hosting a few games and there's arguing between Municipal and Provincial funding for this fucking thing. The city is broke and the province are being cunts before eventually funding this nonsense. Close to $100mill that could go towards a cost of living crisis in this city will divert to a handful of WC games. PRIORITIES.

Or are they doing other stuff as well? Was at the TFC game last weekend coincidentally, was surprised at how temporary it all felt. Was absolutely rammed getting in and out with the fair thing being on next door, definitely one of the more unique experiences I've had at a match. Was reading a couple of weeks back that American cities have finally cottoned on that Fifa are going to rob them blind where they can and aren't happy too. Stifler
BMO Field hasn’t aged well at all. In all honesty it is just bleachers, I think I’ve wrote the exact same thing about West Ham’s stadium, and Fulham’s away end. You look at the new stadiums that have been built for MLS teams, and the ones proposed for it and it’s light years behind. Outside of the initial excitement about getting an MLS team, and the couple of years when they were good, the fans haven’t really taken to it. Fucking god help Toronto FC if the MLS does move to a winter schedule as is rumoured. A open stadium, with no shielding from the wind, right on the shoreline of Lake Ontario, in the Canadian winter. Yeah, not for me.

It's going to be annoying next year when Chicago doesn't have any matches, but it was absolutely the right decision to pull out based on the same stuff Toronto is dealing with. The tax breaks given to FIFA and corporate partners were a robbery.

Was reading a couple of weeks back that American cities have finally cottoned on that Fifa are going to rob them blind where they can and aren't happy too. It's mostly other stuff (operations, police, maybe some infrastructure? not sure, trying to ignore it as best I can) from what I've read, the city expected cash and the province was like, "nahhh....we'll offer up comped services". Fuck right off with that thinking, but that's the buffoon we have for a premier elected by the country bumpkins he panders to (who I'm sure are nice people, but COME ON). BMO Field was built for public use and not purposely for football, government suited it towards football once TFC was a thing. It probably felt weird to you as it's surrounded by an exhibition and parking lots, which is insane considering the value of the land there. Also, fuck you for not DM'ing me and meeting up for a pint, I'm 10min from there! (hope you had a good time in the city!) 34 minutes ago, Stifler said: BMO Field hasn’t aged well at all. Yeah, not for me. It's fine for what it was intended to be. Baseball, Hockey and Basketball are all more popular sports here professionally despite the diaspora of UK, Europeans, South Americans, Asians etc. and most of those care more about home countries/clubs more than TFC or Team Canada. I had TFC season tickets 10 years ago because they were cheap and it was something to do before I had kids. I sacked it off because I'd rather use that money to visit my Geordie family every two years and catch a match when I'm there than pay thousands to see rank football. I had friends who did the same and one mate goes on tour in Spain, Portugal to see league games there as it's better value for him. Yes, fuck going to BMO in the winter! Nasty spot during those months to be. 37 minutes ago, Matt said: Further west, a city and province just decided to fuck the whole thing off despite having a 60k stadium available. Edmonton? Smart! FIFA are a scam despite getting pulled up on it multiple times. I see their PR machine has gone full force in saying you "weren't selected". 40 minutes ago, Ameritoon said: It's going to be annoying next year when Chicago doesn't have any matches, but it was absolutely the right decision to pull out based on the same stuff Toronto is dealing with. Couldn't agree with you more and next year I'll have to plug my ears to ignore the inevitable bullshit that's going to happen around these games. Most here aren't that bothered that I know and aren't going, but there's going to be nonsense and a few political issues before everything post matches will be "hailed as a success despite the political hurdles".
