It's one of the reasons I've lost patience with football tbh.

Players being rewarded for unsportsman like actions such as deliberately deceiving the referee. Makes it all the more galling fans have bought into grown men hoying themselves to the ground being a penalty.

I wince when Gordon does it for our lot. It's just a bit shit.

I’ve lost patience with this stuff though after nearly 50 years as a fan. There’s a fine line between “buying a foul” and “diving/cheating” and I think he crossed it, particularly as it’s very clearly been coached.

But there was 'contact'

Just in case the PSG vs Bayern game restored your love for football, step forward the footballing equivalent of ISIS vs Khmer Rouge to remind you just how shit it can be

Totally agree, there is a huge amount I dislike about the game now, but the cheating is the worst. Players and referees tend to take the criticism, but as you say it must be the managers and coaches who are telling them to do it. Wish a reporter would have the balls to challenge the worst offenders.

There’s now criticism of tactical injuries, but they are far less impactful than the cheating which can directly lead to goals and sendings-off.

Sport thrives on fair competition and sportsmanship and we seem to have lost them both.
