How is that not a pen? There's clear contact and he doesn't touch the ball. Certainly enough to knock a player off balance running at pace.

I don't want Arsenal to win as much as anyone but id be absolutely spitting feathers if that was over turned against us in a CL semi final

It's a clear penalty. People's hatred of Arsenal is clouding their judgement and understanding of very basic football rules.

It's a shocking decision.

He didn't fall over because of the slightest contact, he fell over because he wanted a penalty

I'm sick of those being given as penalties, obviously there is a lack of consistency when it comes to such decisions

Not enough for Eze to dive over - no where near

You have to else you don't get the decisions.

Clear pen for me. It's clumsy.

Contact is allowed in football

It is but it helps if you get the ball as well and don’t impede the player. I’d be fuming if I didn’t get that, nope clear and obvious error. The fact the Atletico got a penalty for a mishit shot that’s going wide and bounced up from the players shin and hits a hand just adds to the mockery of the whole thing.

VAR is the cause of this utter mess with decisions. They justify so many soft decisions everybody thinks soft decisions should be given, but if they all were it'd descend in to utter choas, so they try and temper it by refusing some soft decisions. And everyone's bar for what should be a foul/penalty has shifted. So the bar is so low, it utterly destroys the game and makes consistent decision making impossible. I cant stand it.

Whatever. Arsenal will win this at home anyway

Exactly.

We all agree that Gabriel should have been sent off for trying to nut Haaland. The only reason he wasn't is because Haaland didn't go down.

Unfortunately a part of football now.

It's one of the reasons I've lost patience with football tbh.

Players being rewarded for unsportsman like actions such as deliberately deceiving the referee. Makes it all the more galling fans have bought into grown men hoying themselves to the ground being a penalty.

I wince when Gordon does it for our lot. It's just a bit shit.

...again, blatant cheating from Eze.

Absolutely. VAR is the problem

It really annoys me how Darren Fletcher prounces Eze

Pronunciation of his name has changed since he moved to Arsenal. Used to sound cool, doesn't anymore.

It’s flawed in similar ways to normal reffing. It’s not corruption, it’s either consistently favouring a home side by reacting to the crowd or following a narrative like ignoring repeated cynical but small fouls, or giving certain clubs the benefit of any doubt.
