But just thought I’d mention we had a player Billy Whitehurst who was even scarier. I was thinking about this recently, that the huge improvement in the physical fitness of footballers is well understood in terms of football itself (e.g. any PL centre-half from 2026 will be quicker and have more stamina than any winger from the 1990s, whilst being over six-foot) but is rarely applied to discussions about the hardest cunt ever. I'm sure Billy Whitehurst was a hard cunt, and I'm sure he'd bray shite out of anybody he played against (and I'm sure he'd batter me, just in case he's reading this and thinks I'm calling him soft), but could you imagine him having a scrap with Joelinton? He'd get his head knocked off. Edited Tuesday at 11:34 by enthusiast

Dokko Posted Tuesday at 12:33 Share Posted Tuesday at 12:33 The legendary forward and former manager wanted to keep the news private but confirmed the diagnosis after accidentally sharing the news initially in an "inadvertent social media post". "I am currently undergoing treatment for cancer," Dalglish, 75, wrote on social media. "Unlike my mobile phone use, the treatment is going well. "Ideally, this would have remained private because that's the way it should be, but my useless technology skills have forced my hand. "Obviously I did not mean to make this matter public so I would appreciate it if the privacy of my family and myself are respected. "As ever, thank you to the wonderful medical staff who have shown incredible care and discretion, not just for me but for many, many others. They are a credit to themselves." Whitehurst may be up there with our worst ever no.9s - a thoroughly mediocre player and a thug to boot. I’m not sure our crowd loved him in the way he claims. The entire article made him out to be a complete lunatic (bar fight prior to a match that left a hole in his cheek and his nose needing stitched back to his face). Must have been Chartlon's version of Péle's "Nicky Butt is the best eva" moment.

Been scathing of the work he did here but even at the time I couldn't help but like him and I think that's part of the reason. You could see glimmers of what his inner circle always talked about regarding his humour in the interviews that had been well documented to be almost wind ups with reporters.
