Slightly different circumstances compared to a parade but at the end of every home game there’s cars trying to get through the crowds on the road from Leazes Terrace to the Trent House

The drivers will often be going too fast given the amount of people they’re navigating through and the crowds get agitated with the drivers which inflames the situation

I’m surprised there hasn’t been a serious incident

Aye. TBH like I question folk driving around that area at that time like. Surely it's obvious there's a match on. Same with this one today, surely it's obvious there's a parade.

Seen rear wipers ripped off and bumpers booted outside St James. People lose their minds in a crowd, or surrounded by one.

Been known to open doors/boots of overly aggressive/horn happy bastards on the odd occasion. Have seen some poor fucker in a wheelchair being taken out by a car before too. Hadn’t even noticed until some unit smashed his wing mirror off.

I’ve wondered why the bizzies haven’t closed the road all the way from the Trent to the ground, instead of just shutting the top section

Once you get past the Trent the crowds disperse down the various streets and the flashpoint is massively reduced

From my experience, the vast majority of them are the people who left on the 80th minute.

Fuck me, I think I was there then. Was it after we beat Man City under Rafa?

Aye, I think I was there to see it.

Fucking same guy got nearly torn out by a double decker bus opposite Haymarket a few minutes later.

Anyone who thinks the driver is 53 years old needs to get along to specsavers

Seen multiple angles and the dude had a clear escape route but decided to drive into the crowd, absolute cunt.

Why would the Police lie about his age?

The video I have seen of his door being opened makes it completely plausible that he’s 53.

Polis said in their statement that he's 53. Why would they tell fibs?

Ambulance service to give press conference, later tonight.

They've not confirmed that the bloke arrested was the driver have they? Few pictures circulating seem to show the potential driver as a proper young lad

If it's the photo I've seen, it's the policeman who the arseholes are trying to claim was the driver.

Seems it was the bloke who was trying to get at the driver who was arrested and pepper sprayed, 100% looks 53.

Eyewitness on the news now saying that the road was left open.

Council/police fucked up big time here?

Certainly looks like other cars on the street trying to move (car infront of them has their lights on)

Don't think they have confirmed he was the driver just someone who was arrested, if the driver was 53 hes 100% found the cocoon pool.

The absolute guff I saw was from the usual racist knobhead posting a random pic of a young bloke saying he was the driver. Someone else showed same young bloke as one of the policemen on the scene. Post has now been deleted. Seen a lot of people disappointed it's not what they were hoping it to be. Pricks.

You can see why the driver has panicked.

A few seconds after he drives off you see the chair being thrown through his back window which timestamps it with this one

Tragic incident rather than premeditated attack
