Pokerprince2004
I didn't realise Forest had fallen away so far actually. If they lose today then they are guaranteed to finish 7th - no higher or lower.

A lower/mid-table team with a mixed squad and literally zero European history or pedigree. If they end up in the final then it really is curtains for the rest of Europe at that level. Experience will be a factor. It looks like next years Europa will have stronger teams too. The bigger factor is the lack of relegation threats a team like Palace now has. And squad size. And which ends up being a bigger factor.

Yorkie
I used to be very clear on all the routes in but it feels like there's been about a hundred different permutations this year. Being absolutely certain of a second place finish for weeks has left me fairly non-plussed though.

They can give the Europa League a proper go safe in the knowledge they'll not go down. Think Quarter Finals of the Europa League should be par these days for any Premier League team. I don’t think the Man U/Spurs model of crashing the league is ideal either which is why I think squad size will also be an issue. They can crash the league and FA Cup. But they still need a bigger squad. Momentum is good for Europe imo. Yo some degree anyway.

Novocastrian
It’s a shame it has to come down to the final day as I reckon 67 points will be enough with Forest dropping points today and either Chelsea or Villa dropping points in the last game. Probably an uncomfortable 90 mins against Everton unless we grab a couple of early goals.

A draw would definitely be best from our perspective, but I'd still rather they lost than won today to at least guarantee a top 6 finish and Europa. midds
Can't deny I'd be a bit disappointed if we fell out of the CL places at this stage, really, really want that CL football assured asap. However, the absolute worst case scenario for the end is looking like a major trophy and a place in the EL next year. That scenario still represents the best season's achievement I've ever known - the worst that can happen is still the best I've ever known. That's quite a large and shiny silver lining imo

That's quite a large and shiny silver lining imo It would be amazing even if we got EL but it would slightly sour it as I get the feeling some big clubs will start to come sniffing and turn the head of a few of our players (even if we don’t end up selling them). Further, 6 other teams with CL will now have an advantage over us in FFP. For the sake of 3 points it will make the whole of next season a lot more difficult to compete. If they win today and draw Chelsea on the final day then we'd still have a chance of top 5 if we only gained one point from the final 2 matches. Draw is definitely the best outcome though.
