If Forest beat us they’ll be 9 clear of us. I don’t know why we can’t hit form (or just not be shit) now. If it’s a mentality issue with a final on the horizon again that the squad and managing staff are unable to sort out, it’s disappointing as fuck. Then again, in January-February 2023 the league performances weren’t as bad as they have been so far in 2025. Swings and roundabouts this season though innit. When we won 9 in a row Fulham won 2 in 10 and dropped to 10th. Bournemouth had a bad run from September to November and dropped to 13th. Forest are the only team that's been relatively consistent all season and weirdly they're the ones everyone's tipping to be the team that fall off. If we beat Forest I still think we’ve a good chance but a loss and I can’t see us catching them, and I can’t see us finishing above Man City no matter how poor they’ve been. That leaves 5th; Chelsea have hit a wall but Fulham look good, are 2 points behind us and have good upcoming fixtures. Just the way we’ve been playing in the league lately does not inspire a shred of confidence.
Lush Vlad Posted Saturday at 17:56 Share Posted Saturday at 17:56 (edited) Yeah. The manner of the defeat today was worrying. But I expected fuck all and we got it. Win against Forest and I think top 6 is well on. Liverpool then a free hit as I’d expect fuck all there as per usual. Plenty of time to go. I’m sure we’ll go on another Howe winning streak between now and the end of the season. Edited Saturday at 17:56 by Lush Vlad

Still loads of football left to be played.

Said last week as well, but I'm more worried about Bournemouth, that gives us one less spot to chase unless we can rein them in.

I’ve just looked at Bournemouth’s run in and of the 7 home league games they have left, Fulham are the highest in the league out of the opposition. They are 5 points off last seasons total, which was the most points they have earned in a Premier League I believe. Iraola is another level.

They are doing it with a smaller squad and with plenty of injuries to contend with as well.
The Prophet Posted Saturday at 20:47 Share Posted Saturday at 20:47 City will likely finish 3rd, then in terms of 4th and 5th it's just about who can put a consistent run together between Chelsea, Forest, Bournemouth, Villa, Fulham and ourselves. Kaizero Posted Sunday at 03:52 Share Posted Sunday at 03:52 (edited) Tried to predict the rest of the season, used this: https://www.worldfootball.net/table_calculator/eng-premier-league/ Went 1-0, 0-0 or 0-1 so goal difference plays no part... not that it'd matter, as I seemingly have unrealistic expectations for certain teams regarding rest of season wins/losses Edited Sunday at 03:56 by Kaizero

Looks like I've gone a little OTT on Villa, and no idea how Chelsea are 3rd 😂 but I think it shows from a fixtures on paper point of view we've probably got the toughest run. jack j Posted Sunday at 10:25 Share Posted Sunday at 10:25 (edited) Bournemouths fixtures especially at home look very nice on paper Forest next 3 are us arsenal and man city.... 5th is still possible imo. Carry on at our current points per game average we will get 62. Hopefully enough to get 6th Edited Sunday at 10:28 by jack j

Ketsbaia Posted Sunday at 11:52 Share Posted Sunday at 11:52 (edited) Think these silly defeats have ruined top 5 chances, unless we pull off a shock Anfield win. Not confident they can multitask so this run-up to the final will hurt. 7th or 6th, I'd say. Edited Sunday at 11:53 by Ketsbaia

Lush Vlad Posted Sunday at 13:40 Share Posted Sunday at 13:40 Of course I’d imagine he is referencing the home games where we were heavy favourites and got beat. Not City away FFS.

Agreed that is aim ( top four was looking a possible optimistic aim at one point) but looking at fixtures and the 'probable’ results - 6th is better than 7/8th. So yeah I would take 6th and some European football which may be enough to help keep some of key players…Personally think 1/2 will most likely be off in summer unless CL is delivered in any case. Oh absolutely but I was looking at what I thought was most probably going to happen… You are right in that risking gong for top 4/5 is contextually the right thing to do…. Im not much of a gambler and in all honesty still wonder if we can hold onto those 1/2 even with CL…prospects improve with and with EL but pessimistic me says they may still look to be off to ‘win’ things, so I’d be comfortable with 6th, hoping for 5th/4th… IF we can win LC then maybe the whole club’s fortunes change: just like they may/would have IF we had won the league under Keegan… Till then we are a big club that doesn’t win things and that puts us at a disadvantage..obviously.
