This is the most difficult league in the world, underlined by the fact that two strugglers are in the Europa League final.

the fact that we went into game 37 with second place in our hands and nearly won the game is incredible progress. This is the best season in my lifetime regardless of what happens against Everton.

Next season we need to improve our away record against top half teams. It's shite frankly. P9 W1 D1 L7 and no clean sheets. If you include current teams at 11-13 it's still only one win. That's two thirds of the league.

We lose too easily away at the top teams. I'm sure Howe will be onto this already.

There's no comparison between CL and Europa League IMO.

I never said there was 🤷

However, we'd have a great chance at another trophy, and it's also a route to the UCL

Win a trophy and finish top 6 and STILL people moan 🤦

Need more clinical goal threats other than Isak

Think that will take care of itself with adding more quality to the side.

This thread and the match thread are going to be anxiety ridden all week arn't they?

Only if we let the lunatics take over the asylum

I'm on a pure buzz for Sunday

In 2021 I couldn't stand the sight of the hollowed out shell of what used to be my football club

In early 2022 we were staring down the barrel of relegation

Now it's 2025 we have a trophy in the bag, Europe in the bag and a very strong chance of ending the season with our second CL qualification in 3 years

And I'll be there. Making a racket. With a positive attitude. Doing my little bit to give the lads the backing they need to get the job done

Had a scroll back a couple of pages but can’t seen an answer - Are we Europa League place minimum now aside from a goal difference overhaul?

That's right. To finish 7th we'd need;

Villa win/draw

Forest win

Newcastle lose by at least 4 goals

eg. Forest 2-1 Chelsea, Newcastle 0-4 Everton would (I think) have Chelsea in 6th above us on goal difference (+19 to +18)

Do think the 3-4-3 we will see a lot more of next season in those away games. Ensures our CBs get a good amount of games, then that added star power in final third can win games.

Whats balanced it out is the home form against similar top sides. We’re always competitive and those sides will see a point as a big result.

I think we’ll win but I’m just pointing it out.

lets be honest we can chat all week about permatations, statistics and form but football is mental. We could lose a pen and get a man sent off after 10 mins or hopefully Everton could. If we could predict it we’d all be millionaires.

Good because even if we “failed” at the weekend it still ends on a cracking season where Conference League would have been incredibly meh

Have to remind myself that we were 13th for a while. Being in control of our CL qualification on the last day is fucking great considering how we started the year.

I'd rather play almost any team but Everton, though. They are shit but, similar to palace, we seem to struggle with their particular brand of shittiness.

Add Wolves to that I guess. Everton, Palace, Wolves, and any team that's good, those are the ones to stay away from

Palace & Wolves? They are the dream compared to Bournemouth & Brighton.

And even 6th sounds so much better than 7th, with all the 'big 6' type stuff. Still obviously hoping for better mind.
