So we're rich again?

Anyway, tell me what can I expect from him. We do lack wing depth, but that's a lot of money for just depth. I suppose we don't see Raphinha staying for longer than one more season.

If he's on it, a LOT of high speed running and pressing. If he's not, expect him to go through the motions and probably go down with something and come off at half time.

He'll get plenty of goals and assists over there with the way your lot play (and the pens you'll win), but he also loves to cut in and balloon it over the bar. I'd probably have traditional finishing as his weakest trait.

He's also prone to losing the plot and will no doubt cost you dear with a needless red at some point, probably in El Classico.

Depends what version of him you get to be honest he peaked with us in the 23/24 season with 21 goal contributions.

Willing runner almost boundless energy at times, rarely injured can in theory play across the front 3. Good to a point on the dark arts of drawing a foul/getting pens. The reason I say to a point it was frustrating when he didn't get the decision and carried on staying on the floor effectively taking us down to 10 men.

Negatives?

Can blow hot and cold or seem to get up for bigger games so feels like he chooses when to be at his best.

Not a clinical finisher but can scare the shit out of slow and ponderous full backs but doesn't always utilise his pace to take on his man.

He likes to cut inside alot which can lead to ball retention issues.

His first touch is questionable at times it just seems to bounce off him and he can have it robbed off him a fair bit.

Isn't going to be as reliable when asked to do defensive work.

To add temperament issues hes had a few red cards the one against Liverpool this season was just rash and not needed. Again not knowing enough about the league to know how soft/harsh the refs are over there.

On his day he's electric we saw it less and less of that version but not knowing enough about your side or the league he will likely do well as his best performances this season have definitely been in the champions league.

That assumes he'll be their penalty taker.  Not sure he will.

Because I’m pretty sure you can buy a player whenever you like, the window is a bit of misnomer in it's title. You just can't register players outside of the 'transfer windows' dates, i suppose calling it the registration time/window doesn't have the same ring really.

Obviously you can register a player if they're on a free once the window had closed, with the caveat that the player had to be free before the said window closed.

Thanks, that makes perfect sense

On his day he’s a relentless presser, direct, plays early balls quickly into the forward and drives on. Caused chaos in the back line given how tenacious he can press.

I never felt he was mega threatening on goal cutting inside despite bagging a few goals like that. Hes not that clinical - unless it’s from the penalty spot where he’s consistently reliable.

He seems to dip in form against smaller teams and when the crowd hasn’t been right up for it he doesn’t seem the same player. He can lose the ball often and definitely has spells where his head goes down.

Hes not one to carry a team but in a pressing system with good players he fits in. He noticeably got worse when Isak left for example.

Overall I can’t see it not working for him assuming he’s backed.

Say what you like, but we really extracted max value from Isak and Gordon imo.

If gordon continued with his 23/24 form I recon he would have become a 100m player.

Obviously he didn't so its all what iffery right now.

The equation for me when you review did you get good value also involves who we got to replace them. Last summer I said to myself wilson got 1 league goal? The rat 23? If we can get 2 replacements that cover the output combined we have done well as it turns out we didn't.

The 70m+ sale of gordon will only be deemed a success/good value if we recruit someone that doesn't diminish the side next season.

Gets into good positions. His finishing is embarrassing. Like really, really bad.

Guess they can't have the medical until he walks the doctor to the touchline, pretends to do the start of a move and then rolls it back to a team mate and loses interest in the move.

He's not the most skilful winger you'll have seen, but he's fast and direct. Great running up and down the flank, will win pens and score them.

His end product is ok, not terrible, not high class either. I think he'll look good in your team personally, your manager might prefer having someone who doesn't mess about on the ball and just runs at defenders.

Given our track record as sellers, you really want cash in hand.

WELL WELL WELL look who just waltzes the fuck in. Pushes our shit in and then takes Gordon. You're lucky that makes us even.

Soon as you teach him how to cross, dribble and be a teammate you're laughing.

It's why at the time when Liverpool and numbers like £100m were being banded about I'd have been more than happy with a sale. He's always been high energy and a good presser. But back then it felt like a purple patch and his end product was lacking. Think over the last 2 seasons this has become quite evident.

Close to £200m for Isak and Gordon is a great return, I just hope we're smarter with the money this summer than we were last summer.

If the rumours are true there's a chance we might get some of that money back as well as Tonali and Tino.

Lets go hunt some Makems.........

Not great technically.  Would say Rashford is better technically. The way Rashford can really strike a ball, bend a free kick or on his day have great skill when dribbling.  Thats not Gordon.

Gordon however has tremendous work rate.  Very quick.  Flick will love him because his pressing can be as good as it gets, creating chances just from that.

I also imagine Spain has weaker fullbacks than the PL which Gordon can tear apart like he did in the CL.

I’ll be honest I didn’t think Diaz was any/significantly better than Gordon and he’s been amazing for Bayern.

Think Gordon is maybe similar to Raphinha who I don’t think is a top class technician either but has been class (Raphinha has a great long shot which Gordon doesn’t).

But Gordon doesn’t have the technical ability of an Olise or Bale.

Think ppl are slightly harsh on Gordon’s output. It’s a tough division for wide forwards.

Saka has 7 goals 7 assists. Mbeumo played once a week - 11 goals 3 assists. Trossard 6 goals 6 assists. Doku 5 goals 5 assists.  Gakpo 7 goals 5 assists. Salah 7 goals 7 assists.

Outside of Semenyo I can’t think of wide players getting a load of goals and assists this season.

Equally Gordon isn’t and will never be ‘him’.
