Terrymac1966
Southgate talked shit on the tele tonight it sounds like were gonna get a rinse and repeat. He hasn't learned a bean.... Gordon about 85th minute if we're lucky.
brummie
Southgate will serve up more of the same with the odd like-for-like replacement. He's fucking clueless. Nice guy, but a hopeless coach.
Danh1
Gutted for Gordon that England are managed by a terrorist.

Nice guy, but a hopeless coach. He's tactically inept unfortunately. Decent bloke, but any manager who’s got a modicum of talent and reading of the game will nullify whatever this “play the best players and hope” approach is from Southgate. Most of the team have been managed by the best in the world. Pep, Poch, Teeth Gnasher, Arteta, Wor Eddie, etc, who are all far superior to Southgate. They still need direction and aren’t getting it from their manager when they’re used to pinpoint instruction from the dugout.

MVP of the under 21 tournament, has an absolute beast of a season and is riding the pine for REASONS. It’s disappointing for us, but I am sure the lad is biding his time, hopefully he gets a chance if England are comfortably winning. Geogaddi
I'm glad he's not playing , couldn't care less what he does for England and would rather he had the summer off and be fresh for us next season.
Pilko
Whilst I'm glad he's not doing 90 after 90 and getting flogged further, if he's gone to the tournament I would like him to get a game, even if it's as a sub. Would be shit for him personally after the season he's had if he didn't see the pitch at all, especially considering the absolutely gaping chasm of space down our left in both games. Dr.Spaceman
Yep, that's the silver lining for sure. Would rather he had his feet up somewhere than be busting his arse training, trying to impress the vanilla empty head, however.
huss9
he'll come back with an ever bigger point to prove. opening day hatrick on the cards.
gbandit
I feel sorry for him. He’ll be absolutely desperate to make his mark and if he had played I think there’s a decent chance he’d have made himself unstoppable for the rest of the tournament. Think there’s a cowardly element to not playing him and shoehorning Foden in there. Why waste a talent with his pace? Even if he has an off game his pace is enough to win you games in spite of that
HawK
I'd prefer Anthony Gordon playing regularly for England and brimming with confidence and pride than one who might feel jilted.

Agreed. But he’ll just be more determined to prove a point in the Premier League. A win, win for us either way.

Know what you mean, but luckily I think he feels valued enough here, and will feel validated enough by people in the media crying out for him to start, that he'll come back intending to be better than ever next season. Not sure there's a better manager to handle that process than Eddie.
Sibierski
The only thing I can think for him not playing or even featuring yet, his ankle injury hasn’t been fully healed yet. And with other options, Southgate doesn’t need to choose a 90% fit Gordon, whereas we had no choice last season and patched him up and rolled him out each week. The othe option for left forward role is Eze. Is he inured as well ?

I just feel he’s not fully fit and not been risked yet, even off bench. Like a normal ankle injury you’d be looking at 4 weeks or so, which would put him around this times scale to be back fully fit. Just can’t be stated enough IMO how much we kept getting Gordon back out there last season when he looked fucked after a tackle game before. Great short term, but wouldn’t want that to be a regular thing long term.
Chris_R
The England team would look orders of magnitude better with Gordon on the left and a left-footed fullback behind him. Astonishing that Southgate can't find a better left-footed English fullback than Trippier, given there's 3 I'd rather play there at Newcastle alone. Love Tripps, but he's shit at left back and just nullifies anything going forwards down that flank.

Andy
On the plus side, he's got better in the eyes of your average England fan with each passing minute, the whole of twitter was twerking for him the other day. If he'd featured in the shite performances so far he would have been an easy scapegoat so it's worked out alright for him in that sense. His time will come. Abacus
His time will indeed come. But it should be now. If Southgate can't see what he's got on his hands with the right coaching (which in fairness many of us didn't either till this season), that's on him. Can't wait to see how he develops with us.
