r0cafella
This is from 2022-2023 And the thing I find really interesting isn't the gap between say us and the sky 6, it's the "average club" bar. It really is a great visual demonstration of the nonsense which are FFP/PSR rules. "The average imaginary clubs revenue would actually place it 7th which just goes to show how skewed revenue is in the league and highlights the chasm which exists, this gap can't be breached without owner investment weather that be direct investment or through related party sponsors. The players they’ve sold recently I doubt it was money from Bloom’s personal wealth that funded the Minteh purchase.

Is it not the case though that but for the shareholders loans, the player sales would have been to keep club afloat not purchase Minteh ?

Possibly but you have to factor in that what they did then wasn’t illegal. Hence the meeting on 22/11 will be fractious if not hostile to changes being applied retrospectively. The only one I can't get my head around is spending over a billion on a new stadium because from an investment POV I just don't know if an owner today would consider it a good investment. Happy to be told otherwise though. Levy built a new stadium a few years ago, but it came at the cost of investment in the first team iirc. He quite often cited stadium costs as a reason they couldn't spend on players, and that was when they were in the CL.

Ok values can rise, but generally you have to put in just as much for that to grow. I don’t think it is purely investment, maybe initially from PCP it was, but I think Amanda made it clear after doing the Manchester City deal, she wanted to own/run a club. I think circumstances have changed, and she doesn’t want to do that anymore, PCP was pretty much neglected whilst she did. From the Reuben’s, they are wanting soft power/to get in to bed with the council. They own about a quarter of the city in property, much of it which needs regenerating. They need to have a relationship with the council, or some leverage. NUFC does that. We all know why Saudi want to own us, the same reason why Abu Dhabi own Manchester City, and Qatar own PSG. They're in a catch 22, apply it retrospectively and it'll probably be unenforceable for similar reasons to the Leicester case, don't apply it retrospectively and FMV/PSR is probably still unlawful because there'll be 2-3 years in the PSR calculations where those clubs haven't had FMV applied to their loans. Probably the only way around it is to restart the PSR cycle from scratch.

Yep, that's why I always think it's not purely about money. Even if you were to take the cynical view that the Saudis bought it for sportswashing, it's still done a lot more effectively with a winning team on the pitch. SAK Posted Friday at 18:15 Share Posted Friday at 18:15 So if the rules are illegal and clubs vote against changes does that mean the whole associated party transactions part gets scrapped with PSR remaining but room for us to strike the deals we want to overcome this? The premier league, who played the do not approve do not reject delaying tactics, are now being slowed down themselves. Man City’s arguments see rational. if a rule is unlawful putting that exact rule in for a transition period is also unlawful! Also nice move to forward the premier leagues letter to them to everyone else as well. Bit of transparency.
Likelylad Posted Friday at 18:28 Share Posted Friday at 18:28 It is but I just can’t help but enjoy seeing the Premier League get the occasional bloody nose after the takeover bollocks. Can’t abide Richard Masters either.
Stifler Posted Friday at 18:46 Share Posted Friday at 18:46 You’d think that after embarrassing them by getting the rules declared not lawful, then again a few days later by it being revealed that the Premier League were wrong to insists that they won the case, that they would be mindful to take notice of what Man City’s lawyers are saying. They are fucking desperate to stop competition.
andycap Posted Friday at 18:50 Share Posted Friday at 18:50 No let up from city like it's great to see. These fuckers will be trying every trick in the book to pass some unfair rules, which city are ready to stop it in its tracks. 😂
