Although I'm sure you love them and want them to do well in life ☺.

Just speaking from personal experience I know loads of people who've sadly lost their jobs over the last 12 months, others still working but who are struggling a lot more, even making excuses for why they can't come out for a pint etc. In the past the match was always seen as a release from everyday life. Maybe people are taking their troubles into the ground with them. Maybe not, I dont know. Yeah, this is exactly what I was thinking. All a bit tragic and shit really. Don’t think the cunts waffling on about their Porsches and ski holidays to Tignes are feeling the national mood like the rest of us. Those sweet sweet status season tickets and the 85 minutes of high value networking are great.
Scoot
Been reading a few comments on twitter from people sat in the Gallowgate yesterday regarding the chant from the Strawberry corner of "sing in the gallowgate". Not only are they completely clueless that this is a chant from years back but they were actually offended by it. What has our support become ffs? This is one of many... We're going to be having further discussions with the club that I'm sure will be revealed in time but the response has been fantastic with over 4.5k completing the survey and we're expecting almost 5k by the end of tomorrow. Whitley mag
I’m all for the corner taking pops at the rest of the stadium for no noise. Proper flash back to the 80’s and think they should ramp this up in all honesty. Will go way over the head of the new middle class fans we seem to have attracted but might liven the place up a bit. Said it 3-4 years ago at the safe standing forum. Having opposite corners of the ground in opposition to each other would only enhance the atmosphere as they try to outdo each other. ”Sing in The Strawberry” ”Sing in the Leazes” etc
Rafalove
Just don’t get what people who don’t want to sing and be apart of the atmosphere get from games. If you just want to watch Newcastle play football, you’ll get a better view from watching on television.
Si67
Sing in the Leazes / Corner etc. is a great throw back to the 70s and 80s when going to matches was way better.

The Gallowgate though...Silence...and that's our 'home' end Agree, but as a pedantic point of order the corner is part of the Gallowgate so singing "no noise from the Gallowgate" made yous all look a bit daft. When I was there in the 90s we used the sing "Why's the scoreboard full of shit" which (although I'm in "the scoreboard" now myself) would be highly appropriate these days I'm close enough to the corner that when I join in the singing it used to at least sometimes catch on amd spread, but the last 2-3 months it hasn't and I'm "that tit shouting by himself again." Used to really love my seat, close enough to the atmosphere of the corner but with a better view of the gallowgate goalmouth. Starting to think I'd be better off in the corner now. There was a small part yesterday on TV when they were showing a replay of something. You could see everyone in the corner singing and clapping then as soon as you got to the very first seat in the Gallowgate middle tier everyone was just sat there. It doesn't even carry. The fact people are actually upset by it tells you all you need to know about what sort of crowd we attract these days.

One person seems as though they are and they sound a bit clueless so two reasons not based your argument on IMO. Like I say I know the drill and what the craic is for decades… and I’m saying it was badly timed as the “scoreboard” were already joining in plenty and the atmosphere was carrying around the grounds lower bowl as well as it has all season and better than some of the bigger games. Hence my point it seemed an odd thing for the “corner” to do on this occasion and seemed to backfire.
Groundhog63
We were in the Gallowgate and, at one point, a bunch shouted "The scoreboard, the scoreboard" & another bunch replied "The corner, the corner" Brought back memories of days gone by. I almost felt like standing up and lagging down one trouser leg to add to the nostalgia
