1 - is Freed From Desire wank. That’s entirely up to the listener. To me, it’s absolutely wank. Doesn’t mean I think everyone has to agree with me though. 

 

2 - Should a wank tune be played at the end of a Newcastle United game.

1.  Opinion... You're right in a way but I always find it hard to say a track is 'shit' if its clearly popular...but I'm very much a music person.  I can't even bring myself to tell the bairns the spice girls were shit... Considering they probably made millions.  Just my thought process...i'd say I don't like it because saying it's shit is asking for an argument.  Again just the way I look at it.

In addition to the other reasons - One of the fun things when you’re at an away match and winning is mocking  home fans for leaving early and being fair-weather. Never got how anyone would want to then give away fans that satisfaction. Suck it up man.

This is a bit of a ramble but I went to see the NY Giants play back in 2013. Got chatting to the bloke next to me - proper New Yorker, generational Giants fan.

 

He was telling me how he'd always wanted to bring his (now teenage) sons to the games but that their generation tend to follow "the NFL" and specific players (which he linked to them all playing Fantasy Football). Anyway, at the time I thought it sounded awful but thankfully very American. 

 

Then the "Can I have your shirt?" signs started to appear elsewhere and I thought "Well, that'd never happen up here..."

 

Now I see that garbage and I want to go back to NY, find that man and sob uncontrollably on his shoulder, apologising for not showing the level of empathy the situation deserved...

I know you're talking in terms of last night here but the deference to Man City many among our fan base have pisses me off in general - "they can win everything until it's our turn because they're not one of the red clubs." Part of the same fucking gang wanting the thumb kept on our heads and the door kept locked. They can get to fuck just as much as any of the other cunts.

 

Their fan base is also now largely a bunch of insufferable wankers, the older generation is dwindling away while their younger ones have either forgotten when they were shit or aren't old enough to have seen it. Which is a shame as historically they've kind of been kindred spirits, good hardcore, turned up when they were shit etc. Although that's partly down to the club and their ground becoming a tourist attraction aswell.

I remember going there with Pardew in 2011, when we were on that unbeaten run. After years and years of being the rogue little brothers of the cunts they share a city were, they were pretty much indistinguishable in their arrogance. And this was only a few years after they lucked into success.

Their fans are consistently up there with the worst home and away. Spoilt passionless bastards. We were talking last night about how good their fans were in the game Keegan came back in 2004, proper hardcore. Light years apart from a couple of “we’re not really here” chants. Might as well not be.

Yep.

 

Folk forget the these bastards have been sat on over 100 charges cheating the league and kicking that can down the road for as long as the FA can allow them to do so, or for as long as it needs to until people forget about it. There should be uproar across the league about it tbh, not just the league but the football pyramid.

Aye, the cheeky bastards. They were very quiet at 0-1 but suddenly turned into the most loyal and fervent fans on the planet once they turned it round. Giving it the "Where's your famous atmosphere" etc. Hate Arteta and Arsenal but them winning the league at least means these spoilt twats miss out despite their millions and having been allowed to spend them. Can't believe I've just typed that about satisfaction from Arsenal winning the league 😆. Broke my 4 month exile yesterday (other than the PSV game in January) courtesy of getting a ticket off a mate. Gallowgate middle tier block K, near the back and right next to the corner. Cracking seat.

 

Atmosphere started off canny, as it should for an FA Cup 5th round game at 8pm on a Saturday night, but oddly seemed to tail off when we went 1-0 up. Was almost if people sat back waiting for them to equalise. 2nd half was poor on and off the pitch with no real chanting en mass.

 

A few observations;

 

The % of people in the Corner who participate in the singing is actually quite low. Most the people at the back seem to sing but very few the further to the front you get.

 

Turned around and could see people stood up all match at the back of the Gallowgate. They do try to get stuff going up there but could barely even hear them from where I was sat so their general impact is minimal.

 

Could hear the Man City fans quite a bit which is unusual because the away fans aren't usually very audible from the Gallowgate End. Not sure if that's down to the acoustics and them having the corner as well which made them sound louder. I know that when that was our singing corner up there my mates in the Gallowgate said they could hear us.

 

All in all a 6/10 I'd say.
