Credit to Howe though. I’ve been going almost 30 years and some of the best atmospheres I’ve experienced - home or away - have been at St James’ under him. He really knows when to use the crowd to the teams advantage.

I also think we always raise it for Arsenal. Even in the Robson days when I first got my ticket. I remember a game under Souness (I think) when Nobby scored and it was class then too. Howe’s first year there was fuck all riding on it for us and atmosphere was cracking. Feel like I’ve seen many an Arsenal team crumble here over the years, obviously the anniversary of the most famous of all.

I'm an old fart but I'm fairly sure you and your dad used to frequent Bar Loco pre match.  I maybe wrong.

Was in Gallowgate Upper block S tonight. That was loud. Very loud. Arsenal had 5k there and never heard them once. We just seemed to totally drown them out.

Yeah Arsenal were really poor

That was great. Songs emanating from all 4 stands in the first half. I was East Stand block H, row U and many of us stood up for most of the game. L4 of the Leazes and Leazes East Corner also loud. Loved that.

If SJP was like that every game we wouldn’t ever lose at home.

Tell you what, that was fucking belting from start to finish.

Obviously I was biased, but not having L7 as a family section (right next to the away fans) needs to be brought back. Was radge as fuck and almost back to singing section days.

Was in Safe Standing, down near the border with the East Stand seats and it was magnificent

The massive amount of noise was enveloping the ground all game and it was absolutely relentless from the off

When we scored that disallowed goal it went ballistic. In the aftermath, I remember thinking they must have heard that in Hexham

Showed the benefit of geeing everyone up in the days before the match and I also think DJ OneDek changing up the pre-match choons really helped

Doff of the cap to everyone, we really did affect the players performance last night. It was electric

Literally bodies all over the stairs and seats and folk hugging and kissing each other, even folk who literally have nowt to do with one another.

Canny funny when you think about it tbh. Some absolute radgies stonied up who on a normal day if you suggested they kiss random blokes would bite your nose off and then they're pure necking on with other fellas when the Toon score and at the next game will pretend they don't even know you

It's mad. People you see every week but barely acknowledge and you're jumping all over with them

No better feeling man. Try explaining that to the sad cunts who don't like football

I actually think it's the best thing about football me, that feeling of community and a shared love, even the tribalism is great so long as it doesn't overspill.

The poor cunt who I used to sit behind in the Strawberry Corner got more kisses from me than my wife.
