Ankles Bennett
Sell to Everton for £25m with a buy back clause. Buy back clause not to exceed £25m.

We must be desperate if we are willing to let him go for around £20m. I’m sorry £13m profit isn’t worth the risk of letting a kid with so much potential go

Sign a promising player, loan him out and then sell for a profit. A steady stream of these type of deals means you don't really ever need to sell any of your stars (nobody wants the guff we've had swimming around our first team for the last few years). I've no doubt the club would prefer another loan deal but financial restraints mean otherwise. Yes but 1. They have squads deep enough they can get rid of players that won’t get near their squad. We don’t have that luxury. Minteh would do a job in our squad and 2. They somehow manage to do it for more than a £12m profit

Conjo
Buy back clause is all well and good, but remember that the player is not obligated to accept, it is only a pre-agreed fee between the clubs that the buying club can't reject later. If he has a great season and Everton accepts a bid from another club too, there's no guarantee we'll be able to bring him back - and quite frankly - why would he want to when we were effectively just using him as a means to improve our spending limit. loki679
Cos we'll have just won the quadruple and be favourites to win everything and be the biggest cloob in the world by then.

I'm sure we'll see some come through to the first team too. Perhaps in our case but Chelsea for sure sign so many that they know only a few will play any amount of games for them and the rest are just assets to trade off. mosstef
Not to fussed about never seeing him play for us. He's numbers in the Dutch league have been good, but a lot of players have looked even better in that league and never managed to convert it to the PL. The College Dropout
Aye we brought in Minteh to finance £45m back-up left wingers. That's the model we want.

The Butcher
Be amazed if Lyon, or any of the interested forrin clubs for that matter, can afford the fee we want for him.
Sibierski
Do we still hold any interest in Cherki? And could Lyon being actively interested in Minteh help with a deal there?
STM
Oh, so some sort of Minteh- DCL was being discussed and both have collapsed?

Seems like the crux of the problem being we need cash in the accounts so I don't see how a player swap helps

Meant to selling Cherki to PSG so will have funds and need a replacement.

STM
It looks very much like we are happy with whatever Lyon are proposing, and are trying to push Minteh in that direction. I reckon this comes to a conclusion super quick. Something like 20m + a buy back clause of double that, perhaps some incentives for success in there too if he does well in general. If we have protected against him turning into a superstar, I think a reduced fee is a worthwhile compromise.

It wouldn't be pure profit, we've likely got 4m or so that we need to clear but the rest would be and presumably its crucial in order to get our transfer window off to a good start. We were going to do some FFP workaround with Everton and would've taken DCL as part of it (I assume he's not our number 1 choice but we like him). But Lyon's bid is serious so we can take their offer and sign a striker higher on our list.
