I don't get how people can blame the club - it's these ridiculous rules that are at fault.

Every transfer window we have posters booting off because we haven’t strengthened the squad enough, despite the fact we know these rules exist.

This is not a place full of mentally sound individuals.

Because the club know them and should have the wherewithal to abide by them. No matter how much we hate them, we know the consequences if you breach.

Absolutely wild to me the certainty that some posters are talking with when they don't know if/how the coaching staff and board rate him, have probably barely seen him play, don't have a scooby how our finances are actually looking, what if any interest there has been for other players, or what our plans are for the rest of the window.

Tbf none of those individuals know the financial situation of the club

For me, I don't really disagree with either side of the argument.

However, I do wonder why some choose to always view their own club through the most negative of lenses.

Anyway, that’s a profit of close to £30m in a single season for a guy who wouldn't have featured for us this season anyway.

The evidence suggests we are selling him right now to meet the PSR deadline.

That suggest we are on track to break FFP unless we make a sale.

Making sales so close to the deadline suggests the issue hasn’t been managed with the best preparation.  But good enough to meet the deadline.

These are all things fairly simple to conclude by thinking people.

Surely the rules cause these situations, how can a club know what their revenue for the year is until the season ends. Saying we should have sold Trippier in the winter window could have been the wrong decision if we had finished higher or gone further in a cup. If you don't know what your revenue is it causes a potential fire sale after the season ends.

Again all this suits the current "big six" clubs that can spend without getting close to their limits and is most harmful to the clubs who want to challenge them and can only do so by pushing the limits.

Do you think the people at the club want to sell him for football reasons? What do you think of Brightons recruitment approach?

I’m not sold on Minteh becoming a world beater. I’m sold that the underlying data for Minteh suggests that he’s one of the most promising teenage wingers in Europe. I think the evidence pointed out high potential when he was in scandi and we paid a pretty penny at the time to take the risk. The evidence points again that the kid is a problem which is why several clubs are willing to spend £30m on a teenager with 1 season in the Eredivisie. Including the smartest operators in the premier league Brighton.

I think people at the club are fine with selling him for PSR reasons, because footballing wise he was more likely to go out again on loan next season.

Brighton's strategy is not to challenge for a top four position and Champions League place, and does not see them sign players like Isak and Tonali.

He might well be a promising teenager, but at this point of the clubs progression, it is more important to continue to build the first team with more experience and ready to play first team contributors, as we are still short there.

And so if that means letting a promising teenager go for now, until we get further along in our restructure, then that's just what it is going to have to be for now.

Who views the club with the most negative stance?

Most are saying it’s the best worst case scenario.

The sad brutal reality is - Brighton are buying him with a mind to selling him for a profit themselves

(they'll be lauded for doing the exact same thing in that event)

Or people who believe everything they read on twitter.

Not suggesting there's no issue here, but some people do just believe every headline they read.

I wonder what this place would be like if we were buying him for 33mill possibly rising ?

We are paying for potential. Howe will coach him into a 60m+ player within a year, his metrics hit the roof. To clarify, I’m on neither “side”

Probably already dealt with Chelsea for it

They'd be buzzing that we uncovered the next big thing, which is what Brighton are cheering as we bicker

You are pretty much on the negative side of every argument. I'm not saying you are wrong but surely you must notice of yourself constantly battling on the dark side?

You aren't the only one and certainly not the worst. It's just interesting the way some choose to view the (footballing) world.

I have no real issue with the deal, more we left it this late to get it done and hopefully comply with PSR. (Reports suggesting we may still be short).

I mean.  They will have revenue forecasts. Revenues are fairly easy to predict in January to within £10m or so.

They 100% knew we were likely to breach FFP and needed to sell in January. That’s why we had all of those bids.

The most sensible answer is they thought we could sell a non purple by June. And they ended up being right. But it was someone at the Lower end of their potential value (Minteh) rather than the highest (Wilson, Trippier etc.)

ha

cycle of life - we sell promising young player for massive profit to Brighton > Brighton flip a profit on him a couple years down the line to Chelsea > Chelsea sell a casino to themselves to cover it > everyone's a winner, except football and common sense obviously
