Would love to see a buyback clause here. Much rather him go to Lyon than anywhere domestic. Perhaps this will work out better than it appeared just a few days ago...

25 million for a player who has had a half decent season in the Dutch league is tremendous money

If he was a feyenoord player and we were offering 25 million for him people would be saying it's a lot of money for someone unproven and they'd want him to be a squad player not thie elite right winger everyone keeps mentioning

A "half decent season". lol.

19 years old with a goal contribution per 90 in a top 6 european league with grown ass men... Curious definition of "half decent" that.... There's a reason the Champions League finalists are interested mate

There's also a reason top clubs aren't busting down our doors to get Miggy or Murphy signed up instead.

He looked promising. He also looked incredibly raw and frustrating at times.

He needs to think about his next move and make sure he's working under the right coach. Howe would be perfect like.

I wouldn't worry one bit about the future price if someone is willing to pay £40 million for a player we've never seen I'd sell him in a shot

its not that easy.

buying clubs have to agree to a buy back clause. may mean dropping the price.

and they player themselves can refuse even if its been agreed.

Didn’t Everton go for him last summer and he started playing up for a move?

Imagine going on strike to force through a move. To Everton.

It's a good point and one of the weird things about PSR. I agree Eddie looks pretty perfect for Minteh's career given his profile, and it's not just a club being forced to lose a player they want but a player being forced to leave a manager who could help make his career. Transfers going badly can break a kid's career.

Accepted £40 million from Lyon according to the Mail.

That's an unbelievably good fee for him.

Also such a great place for him to take the next step. Happy for him if true. Everton and Dyche would have been a disaster.

Lyon have been good to deal with. Hope we keep up the good relationship.

A first refusal on Minteh should he do well would be really good.

Now that we can take Calvert off the table, if that's legit, it is a heck of a deal.

I don't like selling him in the slightest, but it's a very justifiable decision and a massive vindication of whoever was responsible for us signing him. It gives us scope to sign ten new potential Mintehs, if you think of it that way.
