Been crying for the longest time to get him as a DM. Now we've seen it, it needs to stay. Love the bloke.

That moment in the second half where he tracked their player, bullied him off the ball and won the foul was a million miles from the Tonali we saw in the first few games last year.

All this horseshit about him and Bruno can stop now.

I think we could actually try and control possession in games with a Tonali/Bruno/Willock midfield, but I love Joelinton too much so I’m in two minds.

I actually thought Bruno was the less effective out of the trio mentioned.  I love Joelinton in these games where it can get physical and Tonali was class.

Glad he's finally been played in his position but ffs did we really have to wait this long

Very very annoying, but at least we have arrived here now, and there will be no more second guessing going forward, as all that has been done now.

Think moving him to CDM and pushing bruno further forward may be the turning point of the season.

Gives us an extra layer of defensive solidarity and adds creativity to our attack.

Get Botman back healthy and add a RW upgrade in January... Could still be a great season

His first time passing when being pressed as the deepest midfielder is great, takes the opposition press totally out of it.

Very well suited to breaking the press as he is uncannily great at it.

He’s mobile, fast for a CM, even. Followed up Saturday’s performance with arguably an even better one.

The 6 (4) position is his to lose now.

Do you think eddies been pressured into playing him there?

He covers ground very well and has the instinct for where the ball is going to go. Top player.

He really is, then he releases the ball really fast to team mates as well if there's a space to hit.

Can't help wondering how good we would look if we had two of him.

I think our eventual midfield will hopefully include Tonali, Bruno and a new signing. In games we want to dominate anyway. We don't really have the third piece to make it world class.

For now I would either bring Miley in or go Joelinton if we sign a RW in January.

No.

If a manager is pressured to play someone at a position and caves in he should be sacked.

I meant by fans and media myself. If the chairman does it you'd be wise to either quit or do it.

Firmly in the team now. He'll only get better and better. He's unreal.

It has to be said though it was a massive oversight not sorting this out earlier.

No. He saw he was too inconsistent or not doing what he wanted as the RCM and he preferred Longstaff for that role.

I think he realised how well he played in the central role against Chelsea in the cup. We’ve been struggling for goals so perhaps need ball players further forward and we have also still had that issue with screening the CB’s.

He’s found a solution (so far) to a lot of the midfield issues. By playing him as the 6. Something I read that he did early in his career.

Suddenly, the LCM role looks like it could be more of an issue. Willock is too in and out, Joelinton was great first half tonight. Poor second, IMO. Longstaff has been bad there the few times he’s played there from memory?
