Would replacing Iran put Italy in a better or worse group than if they had beaten Bosnia?

Both seem very weak groups, irans probably a bit weaker, Egypt, Belgium and nz as opposed to Canada, Swiss and Qatar. Some stinking groups tbf.

In a non Psr / Scr world we would ideally keep our best players  , pay them better wages and add new players every year

Tbf we didn't do this even in the KK years.

Kelly was sold to find Cole who was sold and replaced by Sir Les who was then sold to pay for Shearer etc.

It's more that (other that the Cole sale) we did it better by having the replacement in first.

We all should have been out after he stood on that stage and got that award. We should have been out when we saw the ticket prices. There were a lot of exits we haven't taken. The escapism and the shit we're escaping met, fucked and had a failson.

By saying the worst

do you mean selling a player at a very high price that we all know by that late stage , doesn’t want to be here

i say doesn’t want to be here,  with the knowledge that he puts pen to paper at a new club , verifying his preference to play elsewhere and earn more money

For me , anyone leaving has to be for the best as it means they want to go and play elsewhere / earn more ….or the club doesn’t want them to be here (no longer in the clubs plans)

We just have to get used to it and support the players we have (until they go)

Same with every club

I'm braced for selling the best players of the best team i've ever seen for us as an adult. I'm braced for those players being replaced by a different team than the team that broght them in. A team with no track record at this club. In what feels like a different project to the one that the best players signed for.

It is a different project now. We gave it a good crack, but players have a short playing career, they can't wait 5 years hoping we will break the cartel stranglehold. We will have to sell along the way, and try to replace those players who get picked off by the established royalty clubs.

Aye, and if those players do well, then those will get sold. An endless conveyor belt of football depression.  We've had the nerve to peek out the box, and now it's been shut and fucking locked.

@Curva Sud Milano What the feck's ganning on in Italian football.

I think I wrote this a few months ago... it all starts with the youth teams; Italian coaches of the past were incredible at developing young players' skills... now the typical profile of a coach in those teams is De Zerbi... these fucking idiots teach 10-year-olds tactics and game plans but they don't teach them how to develop skills.

They know everything about football, from how Brazil played in the 1960s to the Netherlands in the 1970s, or Arrigo Sacchi's revolution in Italian football and they try to be revolutionary with teams of kids who not only don't have fun but also learn things that don't improve them...They're incapable of teaching anything else because they don't know how to do it... they only have a lot of tactical knowledge and nothing else.

I’ve got no confidence we will sign so many great players. I’ve no confidence we have an actionable plan to execute to get to the top.

In any case I’ll enjoy the ride. But I was excited before - now? Less so.
