I think his agent will be in his ear as he'll be wanting a pay day. It doesn't stop Tonali putting all this speculation to bed mind. He's clearly started to believe his own hype- He's only had one good season.

Do any teams play with midfielders who are just old-school ball winners then pass off to someone who knows what they're doing these days?

You could argue that's mostly what Tonali does tbh. But then he can crack in goals from 20 yds and deliver set pieces as well.

If we do sell him we need to make sure we value him accordingly.

I sit beside a season ticket holder who thought Fernandes was crap AND rated Antony.

Clearly a shrewd judge of football :jones:

You all wanted Elanga when I told you he wasn't good.

Now you don't want Ugarte when I'm telling you he is good.

Hey don't bundle us all together [emoji38].

I said from day one when we were first linked that he was just a sprinter and I stand by that assessment.

Man U season ticket I know reckons he's shite.

A lot of Newcastle season ticket holders would've had you believe Laurent Robert, Rob Lee, Gary Speed, Hatem Ben Arfa and many others were shite. I sat next to plenty of them back in the day.

Edit: And more recently there's plenty who would tell you the lad in the subject is shite too.

I’d say I understood the signing but I would definitely not go as far as saying “wanted”

I've always felt the change begun in his performances once their lass had the baby, and then there were rumours about them wanting to go back to Italy.

Which is understandable, in a way, that she/they might want to be closer to family with a new young child.

So if he does want to leave, a return to Italy I'd reluctantly accept. However, if he ended up at another PL club, I'd be disappointed in him, given how we stuck by him that first year or so with the ban.

Sleepless nights with a new born will effect your performance.

Definitely the one I want to stay most of the trio linked away. Has work to do on his passing game but gives us so much work every match.

He is everywhere, opponents must feel like they barely get room to breathe. I think that is what other teams will value, even if he isn't on Bruno levels with the ball.

I don’t think anyone wanted Elanga. In fact loads of people said they didn’t, when it became clearer he was coming I think many of us, myself included, convinced ourselves there was a way it could work even though it wasn’t ideal by any means. This was sadly incorrect

Pretty much the story for all our summer signings tbh.

Put more effort into that ridiculous dive today than he has for most of this season.

Just feels like he has been playing at 70%. Going to be hugely frustrating to see him playing 110% wherever he moves to this summer.

Looked much better alongside Bruno in a double pivot both offensively and defensively I thought. Better possession and better protection of the back four.

No surprise that on the goal he was in a terrible position again, after we dropped into the 4-3-3. Somehow ended up stood alongside the centre-backs in the defensive line.

If he's stood alongside the midfielders in front of the defence maybe he's able to prevent the one-two that leads to the goal, or get across earlier to cover for Bruno once he's beaten.

Also not surprised that late on we were not able to keep possession as well as the team did in the first half once he dropped into the 6 in the 4-3-3.

Hate him in that singular central midfield role in a three man midifeld.

Someone wants to tell him that the ball won't explode if he keeps hold of it for more than two seconds.

Elite athlete, good bloke, poor footballer. Take the big money if someone waves it please.
