Fully expect him to shine for spurs.. would be just our luck lol. That said he also seems to be one to be a confidence player and not a leader.

 

He really isn't a huge gut punch of a loss for us IF

 

A) we get a reasonable fee 90m plus.

B) We reinvest well.

 

There are plenty of players we can buy for well under 50m that can contribute more than he did last year. 

 

Sad because on his day he looks a world beater. That was only 6 days in the past year though, at best.

We won’t have as many games next season too so it can be a rebuild year with fewer dudes in the squad. A couple of shrewd signings and we’re back in it and the feel good factor comes back fast.

He would be better holding out for Arsenal or City. Massive pressure on the club to show we aren't back where we started if he goes as well. 

 

Think half of it is just those shitty tactics, way we played like complete losers last season and not prioritising being a good premier League team as players more likely to stay if we focus on getting into Europe every season. Won't be sad if the club sort it out and Eddie learns from it

I like Tonali as a player but he's taken the piss to be fair. Talked about wanting to repay the loyalty we showed him when he sat out a year etc. Played one full season and had his agent hitting up Arsenal a few months into his second season. After that move never happened it's basically been a load of terrible performances whilst trying to get a move to any of the cartel clubs. Sacked off the derby to go get beat of Bosnia for Italy as well.

 

The key is obviously the replacement but in isolation we'll be selling an uninterested and underperforming player for a massively inflated fee which is a no brainer.

We were always gonna lose big players this window, Gordon has gone, Tonali looks nailed to go and I wouldn't be surprised to see one more leave.

 

Players going and getting good fees isn't the worrying issue, it's us getting replacements in and quickly that's the concern

I am concerned that we haven’t learnt from last summer’s window. Selling players or our players making endless noises about wanting to leave before we do any of our own business in those positions is a major failing and it is a concern we don’t appear to be learning

Agree, but after a poor season, selling Gordon and Tonali whilst failing to bring anyone in beforehand is a poor look. Obviously won’t matter if we end up with a stronger squad before the end of the window. However that’s not a guarantee given how we struggle to sign players.

It does make me nervous, very nervous.

 

Combination of last summer, Munoz being interested then dropping us like a stone, then other clubs knowing we have got 2 handsome fees for Tonali and Gordon in the bank, just makes me very nervous that we are back to Wissa examples, need players, have money, so can be fleeced.

 

All this and a real lack of confidence in our recruitment in general.

The players aren’t daft. They know the rules prevent us from challenging and they’ll also realise that we don’t seem to doing much to fight it. What was promised in the brochure isn’t remotely close to the reality.

He hasn’t wanted to be here since at least December, which means he shouldn’t be here in August. Tonali was never going to be a Newcastle lifer.

Honestly, I wouldn't be arsed if we sold any of them bar Hall, Miley and Bruno.
