Seriously, though. So much of that is just simply him recycling the ball. But it’s hypnotic. He is the best in our team for coming back from the wrong side of the ball. But still nicking it without fouling the player.

I know it’s a highlight reel. So you can always make players look good or bad in isolation. But I found it strange that were some really positive bits from the Chelsea away game. I remember him being anonymous and having a bad game.

Similar for Everton. Thought he was meh like everyone was on the day. But half that video seemed to be from Goodison

Saw a comment on a BBC site re: Tonali's excellence.

It wasn't a Newcastle fan that made the comment.

Isn’t this what Emanuel Petit said about Kante before one of the world cups? It’s a good quote but let’s save a banner for an original of our maestro

He's definitely one of those players that makes everything that they do look simple and obvious. I'm noticing it now because I can't ever remember a time when we've had it to this level but I never want to take it for granted.

Looks like Daniel De Rossi in those videos (if anyone here remembers him).

Definitely similar. That's a better comparison than the Pirlo/Gattuso ones that were bounded about when he first signed. If Tonali can have the kind of career and longevity that he had, he'll do well.

Perfect blend of power and finesse, just waiting for a power headed for thunderbolt drive from the edge of the box!

I still think it’s a bit odd to have a well known saying Emanuel Petit made about Kante stolen and reclaimed for Tonali.

If the consensus is that that's well-known, fair enough. Personally I've never heard that said before.

If we go back far enough, maybe someone said it about someone else before Kante, these things go round in cycles. There's only so many words and so many orders to put them in, very little is truly original.

Reminds me of Speed in that sense.

I like how focused he is all the time. He rarely looks sloppy. So professional and his lower level is usually quite high. On top on everything else he does great I mean.

Italian tactical consistency and just class.
