NUFC Transfer Rumours

1. The window closes in 10 weeks, not the start of the season. That’s loads of time.

2. Eddie lies

3. Other than a few front runners, no one has done much business due to the Euros and Copa.

4. I don't think anyone has moved yet that I hoped/expected us to target

The best players don’t usually go early in the window unless the club they really want to join wants to sign them.

We haven’t got that pull yet so take it as a good sign we are looking at quality players hoping that they look at us favourably as one of the best of the rest as preferred doors close on them.

Starting to look like our transfer window has been compromised by the PSR debacle, then maybe the ownership and staff changes as well.

Not saying the window can't still be a good one, but the fact we haven't signed or sold anyone of note most of the way through July is telling.

:lol:Fucking hell this place

Closing in on Miggy/Murphy starting the first few games of the season.

I think that could well happen anyway, even if we do sign a new RW before the start of the season. Howe rarely throws newbies in from the start immediately.

A lot of players will be on there holidays anyway. After the euros and copa America so we could be waiting for them to return before getting deals done.

Aye, I’ve been telling myself that our priority targets all went deep in either competition.

Your dreams: “we’re getting Alvarez from City.”

Reality: “NUFC proudly welcomes Franco Armani.”

There should be no panic

Isak signed 26th August

Barnes signed 24th July

Livramento signed on 8th August

hall signed on 22nd August

How long before those players settled and were regular starters? Barnes and Isak got major injuries early on. It took half a season before Tino was trusted with regular starts and nearly a full season for Hall.

I imagine the big signing (if we make one...) will be a right winger and we need him to be ready to make an impact early. To do that, his chances are far higher if we get him in for pre-season.

We're absolutely fucked. Should be some kind of inquest.

Much prefer players to be signed before most of the pre-season games, just seems to make way more sense and was the way it was until we made a window out of what was naturaly the highest trading time of the year anyway.

Cant say as its been an improvement.

I'd love to find out who Eddie would like to move on, other than the players who have been ostracised.

This isn't meant to be negative towards Eddie, but he seems to be against selling anyone if you believe his interviews (Notably Wilson and Miggy).

I don’t know if I can trust anything Eddie says - if Wilson accepts he’s 3rd choice there may be an argument to keep him but then on the flip side there’s a possibility to cash in on him

In any case I think Mitchell should have the power to intervene - that’s the job of a sporting director and that’s how the structure operates elsewhere - the coach is hired based on a clubs philosophy - if results don’t follow, he’s replaced - For me Howe is an excellent coach, include him in conversations in terms of recruits but he also has to recognise when a players time is up

100% but I think thats exactly the kind of move (Mitchell intervening) that would put eddies nose out. I think Eddie was bemoaning Elliot Andersons PSR-related exit, but you could argue it'd never need to happen had we/he entertained moving on Wilson or Trippier in Jan.

I'm just trying to get my head around how this is all gonna work at the club. We need to get better at selling at the right time to benefit us.

Also needs to be reassured he’d be replaced same window of departure. If that’s not going to be the case you can see why EH would fight to keep him as it risks EH’s job not PM’s.
