He is a quality, proven player in this league, even if he has had a shakier start to his newastle career. If it avoids PSR issues and we upgrade I am all for selling. He has barely bedded in yet though. Kelly being sold is the business we have to do moving forward, taking advantage of deals when they’re there, not hold on for the sake of it. He’s potentially 3rd choice LB (2nd at best long term) and 3rd choice LCB (2nd at best long term). That’s not worth turning down something close to £20m for. I think both would sign up to this out of loyalty to the club. If we can sell both Kelly and Miggy in this window then we should have a fair amount of room to invest in the summer. We aren’t going to be able to refresh the squad and add more depth just selling a couple castoffs and aging players. Plus we currently have too many players on the wrong side of the age profile most clubs are linking at. We have to consider selling anyone who is not a core player. We've never been good at it, and if we're going to keep our star players, we need to sell those around the squad and take chances in cheaper markets.
