Lush Vlad Posted yesterday at 15:19 Share Posted yesterday at 15:19 4 hours ago, The Prophet said: It is a strange quirk, that clubs (previously "the big six") would rather pay a ludicrous amount of money for a player, rather than take a gamble on them for peanuts when they first arrive in the league. Obviously it reduces the risk of a dud, but the much smaller outlay offsets that. Wasn’t there an ex-Liverpool scout/DoF type who basically said they are well aware of these players. But they can’t afford to take the gamble and bed them in. So they will raid the likes of Brighton, Bournemouth or previously Southampton. Then pay a big premium.  Sounds absolutely bonkers to me. But there was more to it than that and there was some sound reasoning behind it that I can’t really remember or try and justify.

Tsunami Posted yesterday at 17:53 Share Posted yesterday at 17:53 Would like to get some Burnley fans thoughts on Trafford. He’s going to go for a fair whack now and I’m not sure how exposed he’s been this season due to the defence in front of him.  He looked a bit skinny and easily put under pressure when they went down. If we go in for him we must have done our homework.
Cronky Posted yesterday at 18:15 Share Posted yesterday at 18:15 The player I'd really like to see us sign is Dean Huijsen. Everyone seems to be after him, including Real, PSG and Liverpool, but I'm hoping we have a chance. There's a £50m release clause about to kick in, we have a connection with Bournemouth, and I think he would get games with us right away, despite being 19 years old.  And of course Sunday's events won't do us any harm. Ikon Posted yesterday at 18:22 Share Posted yesterday at 18:22 Not our highest priority but I’d love to see us sign another quality CM of some kind to add some depth.  One player that I really like from the few times I’ve seen him play is Isnael Saibari. I think he could be perfect for us. Having said that, I haven’t seen him tons tbh. So I don’t know too much about his his character or his consistency as a player. Iirc we have been linked with him before.

Then Willock moved on if opportunity arises for someone who’s early 20s. So there’s a wave of CMs ready for succession planning to Bruno/Joe.

Ellis H
We desperately need to get the GK/CB right because that’s where we’re failing in the league. Scoring isn’t normally a problem but a better defence could turn some defeats into draws which would have us nearer Arsenal this season. They’ve only won 2 more games than we have (played 1 more) but we’ve lost 9 to their 3. We’ve also conceded more than Everton and Palace.  In 22/23 we drew 14 and lost 5 and in 23/24 we drew 6 and lost 14. Currently it’s drawn 5 and lost 9.

Sweee
Collins is mid table level. Just like our current CB's. We need a Isak/Guimaraes impact player but for the CB position.  Guehi/Huijsen and Dibling this summer would be ideal.  Edited 20 hours ago by Sweee
