Skeletor Posted yesterday at 16:55 Share Posted yesterday at 16:55 Just now, Yorkie said: Every man and his dog will be after him if that's the case. Even if another team gets him, that will probably keep them away from Alexander The Great.
Mazzy Posted yesterday at 17:01 Share Posted yesterday at 17:01 Any serious interest in players like Delap/David surely must mean Wilson is going. Unless he'd seriously be happy to be 3rd or even 4th choice for next season. But even then he's on a big wage for that level of player and it's not like he still won't get injured even if he's not playing.
Weezertron Posted yesterday at 17:04 Share Posted yesterday at 17:04 Even considering keeping Wilson for next season is mental at this point.

The Prophet Posted yesterday at 17:07 Share Posted yesterday at 17:07 Injured again at the moment fwiw. I do like the idea of having a target man to bring off the bench though.

Certainly decent options but how often DCL would be available is just the same issue we have now.
geordie_b Posted yesterday at 17:15 Share Posted yesterday at 17:15 Pretty sure City have a buy back clause which they will activate and then resell for higher than any release clause

Yeah, it's the injury record that's the issue, but even then it's still a step up from Wilson on that front. I still hold on to the hope that Howe can get the DCL we saw under Ancelotti out of him as well. Still worth a punt on a free imo. Actually hold on, fuck me, I think his injury record might now actually be worse than Wilson's.
SteV Posted yesterday at 17:25 Share Posted yesterday at 17:25 The injury DCL has now is his first proper injury for two years. Delap would give us incredible depth like. But as I’ve said before, he’s arguably be the main CF at every PL club bar us and Man City.
rebelrouser Posted yesterday at 17:47 Share Posted yesterday at 17:47 No one gets injured like Wilson. Wilson missed 29 games this year to DCL's 10, but both are currently out.
Weezertron Posted yesterday at 18:12 Share Posted yesterday at 18:12 (edited) I just don't see anyone else in the league clamouring for DCL. Eddie might think there is a better player in there and he's probably right, but we need to buying people we can potentially sell for a profit 2-3 years down the line. St1pe Posted yesterday at 18:16 Share Posted yesterday at 18:16 £40m seems a lot to me for Delap. He could easily have a similar dip Evan Ferguson has had. Surely there’s better value abroad.
David Edgar Posted yesterday at 18:17 Share Posted yesterday at 18:17 Delap is legit. I maintain he's a future England 9.
Kanj Posted yesterday at 18:28 Share Posted yesterday at 18:28 There is no way David would be coming here to sit the bench. He's not a natural winger either.

Surely there’s better value abroad. Nah. You watched him much this season? Maybe I've just paid more attention as I know a fair few Ipswich fans and it's not too far from me. But not comparable to Ferguson at all IMO. He's a handful even when not scoring, fast, strong, not bad on the ball for a big fella. He's playing in a dreadful side. Yet regularly gives opposing CB's a hard time. Ferguson has also had injuries and was sort of unfortunate with Brighton rotating players in and out. As someone else pointed out, he never really kicked on like you would have expected. Edited yesterday at 19:40 by Lush Vlad

Surely there’s better value abroad. I'm not so sure. He's got double figures for a struggling side in his first full season. With game time he'll likely get better and even if he doesn't, being young and English he'll retain s decent amount of value. In a market where strikers are a premium it's a good deal. Personally I really like him, he has all the tools to be a very good player.
