NUFC Transfer Rumours

Fuck that.

I'd love the club to reduce the time they spend with clubs who negotiate in bad faith. Just go down to the next target.

We looked like utter mugs with Guehi

Thought Palace came off looking worse than we did. Negotiating in bad faith, multiple fake bids leaked to the press even after we'd walked, messing the player about, etc.

The same way selling Anderson for 30 million and buying the Greek keeper for 20 mil helped us avoid PSR trouble.

Yeah but to help them they’d have to make a profit (like we did) Anderson for £30m & Greek keeper reportedly was £20m they made £10m on the deal. How would selling Ramsay at a cut price and Barnes at an inflated fee help then unless they still made a profit.

it only worked because the keeper was worth considerably less than Anderson & nowhere near £20m

If you sell for 20m and buy for 20m the accounting would show profit.

20m sale is accounted for full value.

20 purchase (assuming 5 y contract) is accounted for 4m first year.

So in essence a 16m profit first year.

4m negative the next 4 years.

I'm no expert but, iirc, I did see it explained a bit differently to that.

£30m for Anderson was "pure profit" = all went on the books

£20m for Vlad was all debt BUT amoratised over the leghth of his contract so not 30-20

A June deal works slightly differently as you only take 1 12th of the annual amortisation so I'm effect get the full £20 million profit this year then £4m cost for the next 5 years

Read that Trafford wants £100k a week. I hope we look elsewhere.

He’s going to be a starting GK and highly likely the next England number 1 in the early part of that contract.

Guehi for £35m

Sell Willock for £25m

Ramsey for £40m

Sell Barnes for £40m

We would get a new CB and Joelinton’s replacement for two bench players.

The extra money would go towards a GK and a RW. If Longstaff leaves then we’ll need another CM, hopefully someone young so Miley still gets his minutes.

I think all the talk of selling Barnes is madness. Without his goals and contributions this year we’d be nowhere.

Agreed. People want us in the top Euro comps but then want us to not have a squad to able to actually compete in these comps.

It's mad - seemingly the one area of the pitch we have genuine strength in depth and people want to sacrifice that.  The suspension + injury of Gordon could have been a disaster if we didn't have Barnes to step in

Agreed. Can’t believe we’re still having this debate tbh. And 40million? For that level of goal involvement? Get out of here!

Having players like Barnes in depth is why we're talking first about finishing 3rd rather than 7th. We need more like him.

We're about to go into a Euro campaign, we're not selling anyone who's played a lot of first team football unless the offer is absolutely insane imo.
