NUFC Transfer Rumours

It was done over a year ago as it's the bones of 2 years since Wilson has been fit and able but he'd be a serviceable option there if Gordon was out and there was another quality striker to lean on, the assist at Everton when he was playing there was one of his best moments in a Newcastle shirt.

FFS man.

I think if they sign a starting PL calibre striker like Delap we could well see Barnes move on, Isak becomes an option on the LW then as well and Osula could be cover there also, perhaps even the likes of Sanusi in an emergency. Think an extra CM, RW and CF would give that option. Might mean having the resources to sign an extra FB as the depth there isn't ideal.

I’m starting to get the feeling that there could be some big changes in the squad this summer ahead of a big revamp.

Still effective mostly but with the top sides we’re a bit predictable at times.

Isak and Tonali are really the only players who are untouchable. Maybe Tino and Hall in terms of potential.

But with question marks over Botman long term and a long term goalkeeper, the future spine of the team is only 50% nailed down.

Delap is guaranteed to be another one of many moronic players that signs for Man Utd thinking that they'll be there at ground zero in the latest Man Utd revival. What a tube.

I would characterize Bruno as untouchable as well.

I'd have the "untouchable": category as Botman, Hall, Tino, Tonali, Bruno, Isak. I'd imagine the club would stick a few more in there too including Burn,  Joelinton, Gordon and Murphy.

Hmm interesting and extremely long list.

I doubt Mitchell agrees with this

It's only 6, maybe 10, from a squad of 25 that gives alot of players that are potentially replaceable. We would want to ensure that we've got some continuity from this season.

It's a lot

Again when it comes to things like squad planning a lot of considerations have to made, not just prior performance.

Eddie might agree with the prophet though

Interesting Pep said he wants a smaller squad and Khusanov/McAtee didn't make the squad this week.

Maybe just a meaningless Pep rant I guess.

We'll have both for a cut price fee.  We don't mind helping you out Pep.

Murphy and Burn certainly are not untouchables, but most likely the offers we would receive means we will not sell.

In a sense, that applies to everyone really. If someone was to bid £300m for Isak, we’d (probably rightly) sell him.

So, I suppose no player is ever truly “untouchable”, it’s just that the level of offer required to make us sell, isn’t really realistic for some players.

Have they bought a dud in Khusanov is the question. He's certainly not looked convincing although obviously still young.

It seems like they might move away from playing so many CBs and focus more on traditional fullbacks again given the links to Cambiaso, Kerkez and Tino.

Nobody is untouchable and being savvy with sales is just as important as buying. Like selling players when they are still going to fetch a good price rather than wait until it drops (Wilson as an example) as long as there is a coherent plan about replacing them. I hate to say it, but Botman is giving me Woodgate vibes. It might be wise to recoup the outlay now rather than end up with a player who can’t perform and can’t command a good fee after two more seasons of being injured.
however, as I’ve said before, this is genuinely the first time in 50 + years that I have absolute faith in the transfer strategy.

Yeah I dunno, but interesting because we were apparently very close to signing him before Man City came in. To be high on the list of both clubs suggests he has something.

Swear Pep was complaining his squad was too small only a couple of months ago when they had injuries

I reckon he needs another year living in New York, seems like he's in full melt down mode just now, blokes like him just can't deal with failure.

They probably paid too much and expected too much of him after only a handful of first team games in the French league. Definitely will be quality as we were after him too. Wonder if we'd take a cut price deal for him if City want to get rid already. Feel for the poor lad as by all accounts he didn't look terrible outside of a couple of howlers in his first few games according to City fans.
