NUFC Transfer Rumours

Think Quansah would be a good addition. Rotational player if nothing else, but he seems to have a lot of potential.

We need a statement signing at centre back. Schar showed signs of deteriorating as the season went on so we really need someone who is going to start now and for years to come whether that is Guehi or someone else.

If PSR didn't exist then signings like Quansah for depth and potential would be good but we can't afford to spend £30m on someone that doesn't improve us instantly.

Why did Sociedad sell if he was good?

Cause they are Sociedad - can't compare them to Liverpool selling a talented play to a rival

That article in the Times is grim reading tbh, hope it's a load of shite

Considering Howe’s comments around needing to act quick because the really good players go quickly, I’m tending to not believe a lot of it.

I think the truth in the Hardy article is somewhere in between. To go “big big” we’d probably have to sell a Gordon or Tonali. Sell some fringe players and we’ll be able to bolster the squad well but it will be a mix of a Mbeumo / Guehi established types AND a smattering of lower cost fixer-uppers like Hayden Hackney or Rudoni.

His article was too doom-mongery particularly as we’ve sold and not bought for more or less two years.

I agree that we need a purple at RCB to replace Schar, but we also need depth on the backline. Botman is our only CB under 30 (and there are concerns with his fitness). On paper, Quansah fits the mold as a tall, athletic CB who’s comfortable on the ball and can fill in at RB if necessary.

Plus, let’s not discount the potential effect of that Eddie Howe Magic©️

Jack Rudoni just feels so much like a Howe target for whatever reason. Wouldn’t be a bad shout tbf, doubt he’d go for much more than 15-20m as well.

Only one game.  But I thought he was atrocious in the second leg against the mackems.

I'm not against signing young'ish players from the Championship, mind.  Plenty have had success with that in recent seasons.

I doubt I would be picking Quansah ahead of Schar next season. Are we looking for someone that goes straight into the first team or someone that needs a season of development?

We have to be looking at a starter imo. We really pushed our luck this season with our lack of pace at the back.

Fair. Didn’t watch that game; what in particular stood out that makes you say that?

He’s usually quite decent when I’ve seen him; fairly athletic, tactically adept, unreal engine (heh) and really versatile. Not to mention a very good eye for the final pass. If he’s going for less than 20 odd I can see Howe and co. turning him into a really useful player.

Touch and passing were rubbish, missed some sitters.  He just seemed to be snatching at everything and maybe he was because of the pressure of that game.  Not sure, I just thought he looked crap on the night.
