NUFC Transfer Rumours

The damage Ashley inflicted on NUFC during his 14 year tenure destroyed the enterprise value of the club to the tune of hundreds of millions, if not billions.

It is the very reason why NUFC could be bought 'five times over'.

Ashley's NUFC financial starting point was similar to that of Spurs. He then inexplicably oversaw zero growth in commercial revenues, ran the stadium and infrastructure to the ground, masterminded two relegations, appointed Joe Kinnear, and used the whole club as a vehicle to sell tat via his sports shop, paying zero in advertising.

In masterminding this shit show, one could argue that Ashley took nothing out of the club, beyond recouping loan repayments that he lent the club and the ultimate sale of the shares to PIF/Reuben brothers.

If you think this makes Ashley a good or better owner than the Glazers, who I also think are terrible owners but for different reasons, then you either do not understand football finance or are just so blinkered by the issues at MUFC that you fail to understand what is happening at other clubs.

I've spent 15 years on this forum. I feel like I'm as well placed as any opposition fan to understand how bad it was under Ashley/Pardew etc. and I fully supported you in your revolts against the ownership.

Do you think there's a chance that maybe the shoe is on the other foot, and maybe you don't know just how bad the Glazer ownership has been? Maybe we're both being ignorant?

Anyway, I really don't want to continue this here. I know I can get carried away and derail threads when the discussion involves my club, and I genuinely hate doing that. Happy to post away in the Man United thread.

He was terrible for at least 6 months of the season.

Thanks mate, I've not been keeping up with other teams as much as previous years. I just remember people were fawning over him a relatively short while ago.

In any case we’ll probably get someone like Buonnotte from Brighton. Which is fine too.

Getting players who aren't even good enough to get in mid table teams.  Class.

That's something i've noticed a lot while reading this thread the last few days, you're in the CL! act like it, I feel like the team finished 10th with how some are talking.

There's no need to get into this again. There's enough material from respected columns for people to educate themselves on why The Glazers are much worse. I don't need to try and argue it with people who won't listen.

We've listened tbf, it's just that everyone to a man disagrees. No one's forcing you to keep claiming they're worse than Ashley and people are always going to bite when you keep doing it.

Your club could have still succeeded in spite of the Glazers, but mismanaged the huge funds for players it was given. We didn't even have those funds to mismanage in the first place, survival was the business model. That's what it boils down to and none of that is controversial like. You admitted yourself to not really knowing much about how Ashley ran the club.

Problem with kudus for me is that he is not a consistently good player, he is a "one-in-three" player i.e. has a good game every three...

We need better than that. Mbuemo was a connsistent performer at the highest level for a mid table team, pity he went for the cash instead of the team on an upward spiral!

I am sure there are as good players out there for similar moolah, so let´s give Eddie and the team a chance.

I acknowledge in my post that the Glazers are terrible owners. As a publicly listed company, their mistakes are for all to see in the financial statements, as well as your league position.

Better than asking for some mythical “cheaper but better than Elanga” player “from the continent”.

Ignoring the fact that 17 year old players from the Greek league are going for 40m too.

11 goals and 10 assists in a season when he was 22. He was considered to have a massive potensial back then, as he was already very good.

Here are five alternative (and cheaper) wingers for the right hand side, all have pace, skill and are in the right age bracket:

Karim Adeyemi (Borussia)

Edon Zhegrova (Lille)

Brennan Johnson (Spurs)

Johan Bakayoko (PSV)

Takefusa Kubo (Sociedad)

Club is very tight lipped when it comes to transfers and doesn’t tend to leak much (from the club side anyway).

Combined with Man U and a few others being the leakiest clubs going it’s basically leading to many of our fans just filling in the blanks themselves and/or giving the impression of inaction.

Basically every player and manager is on holiday at the moment. Folk just need to chill out.
