NUFC Transfer Rumours

Here are five alternative (and cheaper) wingers for the right hand side, all have pace, skill and are in the right age bracket:

Karim Adeyemi (Borussia)

Edon Zhegrova (Lille)

Brennan Johnson (Spurs)

Johan Bakayoko (PSV)

Takefusa Kubo (Sociedad)

Apart from Brennan Johnson, who we aren't signing and isn't cheap, how do we know any of these are good enough for this league?

I'm not saying they are/aren't FWIW, but I'm not the one signing a multi-million pound cheque and basically staking my job on them.

We were told Moussa Diaby was class, along with countless other players and it turned out the foreign football experts were massively wrong.

If we are signing from abroad, let's go for someone who is of real pedigree like Tonali and Isak were, or don't bother at all.

TLDR:

CB - Guehi

RW - Semenyo, Elanga, but European-based wingers have been tracked

No interest in Grealish

GK - Trafford and Garcia noted

ST - David tracked but expected to go elsewhere, Joao Pedro liked

Bored of these names above now

Seems like it’s the same nanes every window

Hope we get 3 / 4 randoms that are off the radar and Eddie works his magic

Moussa Diaby scored 6 goals and had 10 assists in the PL in his one season there. I don't think ppl were "massively wrong" on him. That's better than Anthony Gordon this season.

But with that fee you would hope for someone to be transformational and he wasn't. I think he had pretty strong pedigree too. He had 9 goals, 9 assists in his last Bundesliga season, he tracked close to that. Nothing in his profile suggested he was a playmaker or ought so they got what they got.

I love the look of Akliouche - but he doesn't have the proven record. If he did though he would cost £60m+. In our position you have to gamble on players. Isak wasn't a guaranteed hit, he came after a season scoring 6 league goals. That's why other big clubs didn't go in for him. They said we overpaid for Tonali. In our position, we have to go for players that other top clubs aren't convinced about - but we are. Or they think is too expensive but fits perfect for us.

The reason the athletic don't know about our transfer targets is because they are serious journalists. Random transfer rumours and gossip is normally assigned to the gutter press, hence why Hope and Edwards are all over it.... and yet are still wrong.

Fair enough on Diaby but ultimately he wasn't good enough. He was regularly left out of their side and quickly moved on.

We didn't overpay on Tonali. The only people who said that at the time were massively jealous from what I remember.

I agree entirely on the last part though.

We can't really pick PL experience then moan about PSR - its either one or the other.

There was plenty of bargains to be had around Europe last summer that would've made improved our team for not much money.

I think I already know the answer here but is Partey realistic? Even as a squad option, he could be quite useful.

Inagine he’ll renew or end up in Italy for high wages though.

Wouldn't touch him, given his rapeutation.

The damage Ashley inflicted on NUFC during his 14 year tenure destroyed the enterprise value of the club to the tune of hundreds of millions, if not billions.

It is the very reason why NUFC could be bought 'five times over'.

Ashley's NUFC financial starting point was similar to that of Spurs. He then inexplicably oversaw zero growth in commercial revenues, ran the stadium and infrastructure to the ground, masterminded two relegations, appointed Joe Kinnear, and used the whole club as a vehicle to sell tat via his sports shop, paying zero in advertising.

In masterminding this shit show, one could argue that Ashley took nothing out of the club, beyond recouping loan repayments that he lent the club and the ultimate sale of the shares to PIF/Reuben brothers.

If you think this makes Ashley a good or better owner than the Glazers, who I also think are terrible owners but for different reasons, then you either do not understand football finance or are just so blinkered by the issues at MUFC that you fail to understand what is happening at other clubs.

100% this, he may not have taken hundreds of millions out of the club but he prevented it from earning hundreds of millions whilst his tat emporium benefitted from the prevention.

There's no denying that the Glaziers are leaches of the highest order, but at least from a fan perspective they allowed Man Utd to compete on the pitch.

Surely this is just because it’s the names that journalists have. If they don’t have any information they’ll just repeat the same links.

For RW the issue is you can’t have all of low risk, low fee and high potential.

PL players are much lower risk but that’s reflected in the fees. The Kinder slaphead is the lowest possible risk but that’s evident in the fee and salary.

i think the head scratcher here is would you take higher risk given Murphy’s season and save funds for other positions, or is that falling into the Miggy trap from 2 years ago.

Thanks mate, I've not been keeping up with other teams as much as previous years. I just remember people were fawning over him a relatively short while ago.

I’d still have him here as there’s a lot of talent there. A decent fee for him due to a dip in form hopefully opens up the door for money on a striker and midfielder

Got a feeling there's absolutely nothing in this one.

Do a search on that bloke and his #nufc tweets and it’s just a massive catalogue of links to players and managers that seemingly never came close to being realistic.
