Isn’t our women’s team like two or three tiers below someone like Chelsea’s?

"Obviously we didnt want to sell our women's team at any price. We turned away many offers but the 6 billion final offer was too hard to turn down. Fair market value is so subjective."

we signed him for £20m on a five year deal. After one year his book value is now down to £16m. So a sale for £10m now would represent a £6m loss for PSR purposes.

What part of that do you think is incorrect?

Maybe I'm mistaken about how it all works but surely in that scenario getting £10m (and taking the £6m PSR loss) is better than him staying for the next 4 years doing nowt?

That depends.

Our revenue are growing so his cost as a % of our revenue is decreasing as well. Also the longer keep hold of him the lower the loss we actually take on him is.

If we want him off the books, the best time to do it is when we have additional head room to spend so probably not this FY.

According to Stefan Borson yesterday, Chelsea sold their team for that amount due to their potential come 2050.

He reckoned a few will go down the same road, with 100 million plus amounts, now that the 20 clubs voted to stop the Premier League closing this loophole. He also reckons Villa will do this in the next few days to overcome their PSR issues.

That wasn’t the fee we signed him for though - look at the records

Regardless of this our PSR situation probably isn't a problem this year. We've had 2 years where we should have made a profit or thereabouts, and anyone we sign this summer will be amortized.

I imagine our issue is overspending this window will fuck us in the future like the first two years did last year, so I imagine we'll be comfortably within our PSR limit this year regardless of who we sign.

Let's hope his eczema doesn't flare up.

My thoughts exactly. Failed medical because he forgot to apply his hydrocortisone that morning.

I found a copy of the Chronicle on Monday and read John Gibson's column about transfers. Probably the first time I've read John Gibson since the SBR era.

One of the worst articles I've ever read, he's just rambling on and has zero insight or anything new or interesting to say.

I do think it's a shame these are so far off the ball now. They were genuinely one of the best sources for links up until Ashley and they dried up. Miss the days of seeing the billboards with new target mentioned.

I really can't believe that our transfer targets are just all star players from other PL clubs. Makes no sense

I don't think there's any evidence for that. Not to 'say the line, N-O!' but the journos really do know next to nothing. It makes sense that the only crumbs they have are domestic ones. As far as I know we haven't peddled Steve Nickson so I don't see why we won't have targets on the continent too.

We clearly have a desire to invest in dependable talent but I'd be delighted with another 2023 summer; where we sign three proven PL players and one Euro Sexgod. You can't fault the strategy at this point I don't think.

Nah that’s what I mean, it’s funny that every link is just to a really obvious name.
