Terrymac1966
Mitchell should be in charge of this at a time we need some bargain buys. Eddie could drop us back in PSR shit double quick. We need money for an Isaak contract yet...Trafford Elanga Ghuei spells trouble

Why would Howe suddenly go rogue? I mean he could suddenly burn the stadium down. Who knows what he's capable of.

Our ownership is as single minded about success as I am. They experienced the impact of not planning carefully enough last summer, they will N E V E R want to even come close that again, so they never will. TRUST our club and its great (great) owners ! Their eight games weren't like our six. You can see that from who they played, right? Even you'll agree with that. Also we would've made it to the next round if that penalty hadn't been called. Saying we couldn't handle six games is too harsh; we were robbed of three points in Paris, so that's why we didn't qualify. That comment's not fair on Eddie and the players, in my opinion. We couldn’t handle it. We were out of the top 4 race by January. Villa were 4 points shy of us going into a period where they played 6 more games than us and they caught up but could only land Europa League. We’ll need to improve the squad immensely to finish 6th. Again we are likely to play 10 CL games. They will be high level games each time out. It’s going to be more fatiguing than the last run.

Two or three squad additions won't be enough to manage the workload without risking another injury crisis and dropping back down to 7-8th in the league. Dropping back down to 7th-8th is inevitable without a quality squad with depth.

I think we'll be fine; 4th to 7th would be awesome, probably getting us into Europe, especially since we were only 6 points off 5th last time after finishing 7th, and we made the quarter-finals of both the League Cup and FA Cup. Saying we couldn't handle European football alongside the Premier League and cups, especially with Howe's first time in Europe, is nuts, IMO. I think you're being overly pessimistic. We need a more realistic approach. A measured approach to the Window staying within PSR will be beneficial to the club, and I think those running the club see it that way too. Let's agree to disagree on this.

tarie4
I don't get how anyone uses Aston Villa as an example. They pocketed at least £60 million from selling a promising young player in January and *still* need to sell someone by June? Im sure if we sold tino in January and had to sale again before June this all place would be in uproar.

Had a very good link up with Tino on left side (no reason same couldn’t be on right). Work rate was high, made good decisions. Seemed to be a lot more effective in a side with other quality around him which I didn’t see as much last season at Ipswich. Might be one to keep an eye on transfer movement wise. Would split opinions because he’s still a raw player that needs development for RW, whilst others want a more near finished player.

toontownman
Yeah don't see us getting more than 3 in, maybe 4. Its always less than the ITK journos build it up to be.

Numberwise we're full. Those are the 3 areas where there's an obvious first-team upgrade. After that it'll be something like Willock out, replacement in. Optimistic Nut
One of the players I thought would be an ideal and cheap upgrade to 4th to 6th choice midfielders Ndidi, linked with Man Utd for £9m. I'd have seriously been looking at him thinking he'd hold his own in a better side with quality midfielders around him.

With some outgoings we might see 1-2 squad additions I guess.

Guehi and Trafford would really upgrade the back line in terms of pace and ability to control the ball. I guess I’m still not fully sold on the RW options as I was hoping for a game changer type player who could win games. Elanga or Semenyo would certainly give us another edge on the RW. Elanga is deadly on the break, Semenyo looks like he can do more damage from the edge of the box taking defenders on.

If we get an Elanga or Semenyo, I’d also want a young prospect like Roony Bardjhi so we have options. Elanga and Semenyo are speedy direct options. We do need more guile and flair up top. A door opener like Souness used to say.
