Agreed. I think the isak cunt departure will be at the last day of the window. Can't wait for the snake to leave us.

Why would we sell him on the last day of the window? He's on a 3 year contract and we are far from skint. Losing 20-40 million by selling him next year will be 100% worth it to see him either suffer in the youth team, or see him change his mind and bang in another 20+ for the first team.

He may very well be worth much more next year if the other big teams find money under their sofa cushions and give us a bidding war.

Let's look at the long picture, not the short one where we are ridiculed all season by Theyallshagtheremumspool.

While i'm very much love to keep him and see him rot in our reserve team , it's not a wise business decision to do so. Most importantly , he's still friend with a lot of our players, which he'll have every chance to disrupt the harmony of our squad , just not worth it keeping him to prove a point even if it'll mean we sell him for less to Liverscumpool
Best thing to do it's just move on , keep improving and become a club that no one can bully anymore imo

They pay 150mill minimum and we have 2 strikers (if we can get 2 strikers before the transfer window closes) he goes. Otherwise he’ll come back with his tail between his legs and he’ll play for us as he’s contracted FOR ANOTHER 3 YEARS to do so. Ideally they low ball again and we sell him next season when we may have a bidding war for him. Bigger players than Isak have done this shit and reintegrated. That’s why there are no quotes from him. He can deny and wordsmith away any accusations as we have no quotes, just spin doctors and shit house mouth pieces in the media.

I find it hard to believe that we would spend £70-80m on CB And CM competition without being sure that our plan for our pretty dire CF situation is going to work

Do you really find that hard to believe?

Not sure I agree with this. Ramsdale, Thiaw, Elanga, potentially Ramsey all improve the squad but only Elanga is likely to be a starter and he’s got some work to do to match Murphy’s output.

Then there’s the no striker situation.

None of the signings have really dragged us forward in quality. There’s no Tippier, Bruno, Isak, Tonali level of purple to be a statement of intent.

Ekitike or Sesko would have been a statement of intent.
Not sure who else is out there that could be that for us.

Scalvini possibly could have been but we played it safe.
Ramsay is safe over a Paqueta type.

Is Samu a statement given he's like 5th choice?

If - and it's a big if - we sign two good strikers to replace Isak and Wilson and they're capable of 30 goals between them, then I think it could well be a good window.

Last season, with our starting XI fit, we could beat anyone on our day. Our problems came through fatigue or injuries, and an inability to switch tactics in games because our replacements were a real drop in quality.

This window, hopefully when it's done, will give Howe a deeper squad of quality. Okay, it hasn't pushed the starting XI on significantly, but it means he can rotate which is going to be crucial in this congested season. That could actually pick us up more points over the course of the season than signing one or two real purples.

Still think we need a forward who can break down stubborn low blocks with moments of magic.

Nobody said it was a statement when we signed Botman, Bruno or Tonali and others, and they’re all absolutely mint.

We shouldn’t be caring about statements. Also our biggest weakness was how shit our squad was. Before the traitor struck obviously.

The upgrades from Dubravka, Lascelles, Longstaff, Murphy & Wilson to Ramsdale, Thiaw, Ramsey, Elanga and Wissa is quite considerable imo. Obviously there are unknowns there - Thiaw in particular, but also how Ramsey might fit in - but it's largely what I assumed we would do. New starter at RW, possibly CB and GK, then other options in midfield and attack.

Kind of agree and the Isak situation has left a whole cloud over the window and a real bad taste (insert other cliched analogies here).

However. Our squad depth has been rancid for a good while. A paper thin squad, players being run into the ground and only really what, 14-15 first team level players?

Our starting XI can bang with the best of them and match up well against most. But the lack of depth and rotation. Along with genuine options for something a bit different, has been causing us big issues.

Still need Ramsey and say Wissa/a striker in before I would say I’m ok or even pleased with how it has gone. But it has slowly been getting better. Albeit from a low bar.

FWIW. I also think Thiaw will be playing more than we think and will be replacing Schar soon enough. Not saying I would be doing it. But I also have a feeling Ramsdale might be the number one soon and all.

So you do agree with it. The squad has been improved with the comparisons he made? Even the one with the typo error (Murphy not Ramsey). Nothing was said about XI.

He highlighted the striker situation so you agree with that also.

He never said any of that 🙂

We’ve definitely improved overall quality and squad depth but I’m going to go all ‘emperor's new clothes’ here and say every player is probably a tier below what I thought we’d be doing this window.
