About time someone cut the chord on the past it/shit players and looked at bringing in players with their ceiling ahead of them rather than behind them. I agree but I don’t think we’ve signed many players with their best years behind them. Maybe only Wissa? Elanga has been shite but he’s young. Edit: Ah, maybe you mean the players who need to be moved on. Fair enough. Edited April 9 by AyeDubbleYoo

Most on here was happy with that earlier in the season when it was floated as a possibility, now it's likely, you've just got to accept it and see our best leave the club and replaced with players you don't think will be as good. Tisd09
Williams at the right price to add depth wouldn't be that bad would he? I quite like him (bias as I'm Welsh). However, I would expect Forest to want a big wedge for him and in that case would probably be too expensive for someone who would not be a guaranteed starter! He'd immediately become our best corner taker if nothing else.
Vaj
Williams is the sort of player we need to replace Trippier, as mentioned his price is the stumbling block as I wouldn't want to pay more than £10m. That sort of profile abroad is what we need, someone who is solid and can cover both sides.
Shearergol
We're not getting "someone who is solid and can cover both sides" for £10m though.

At the same time, we can't be paying premiums for average premier league squad players either. As others have said though watching him means just that, no indication we will go beyond that. Aye massive gap, but I do think when you look at a package (wages plus fee) we wouldn't want to spend much more than that as a fee on a squad player with limited potential to grow. Wouldn't be the worst signing by any means but imo we need players who can kick on and actually be competitive and fight for a place in a teams who's stated ambition is to be qualifying for the CL. gbandit
Hope we’ve got someone with real negotiating clout working over the summer. I want to hear reports of us telling clubs we’ll wipe them off the face of the map never to return and that we’ll unleash hell on them if they don’t give us what we want. Heard it’s a failsafe way to broker a deal

Ronson333
Well Ross Wilson should know Williams well and might know if he’s got a cheap clause too
Yorkie
A quick scan of the Forest forum seems to reveal wall-to-wall adoration of the lad with many calling him their player of the season. Very consistent with great tackling and delivery, according to them. Also noticed someone share a Romano tweet which just said loads of teams would be in for him this summer. And if anything their comments reminded me of what the Brentford fans were saying about Wissa this time last year, so someone probably ought to slash our brain-dead scouts' tyres before it's too late. Been their best player this season (outside of Anderson). The reaction reminds me of the one to James Garner, and then a few months later he was in the England squad. Don't know why these sorts of players get overlooked so often. Edited April 9 by KaKa
