NUFC Transfer Rumours

These are the right signings and the right sort of prices.

I’d like

2 GKs

RB first choice

RCB that can play RB too

LB back up

Two x CMs

1 LW first choice

1 CF ideally first choice

That’s 9 signings but only 3-4 starters

if trippier Willock Gordon pope Ramsdale Tino Targett Wissa krafth thats 9 leaving

A proper squad refresh

I would also say a RW too. No way you can go with Elanga and Murphy as your main options.

The problem with running a smaller squad is that once again if we get into Europe the squad is too small and we have to buy unsuitable players to bolster the squad quickly.

Isn’t there a UEFA rule where if we sell to a club under the same ownership, it can’t be classed as a source of income towards SCR/PCR?

As far as I know, the rule is that you're only allowed to account for their book value so no profit allowed.  In the case of Wissa, we massively overpaid so even if we're only allowed his book value we're still coming out ahead cos nobody is going to pay that for him in a legit deal.

We could buy a club, "sell" Wissa to them and essentially be quids in.

Krafth,Tripps, Lascelles,(gone) possibly Schar & Tino leaving..We need a few decent defenders in and a back up to Hall ( not Burn)

Tiago Gabriel, Palestra and Methalie would be 3 to watch if those you mention all go.

Is Methalie the one we were going to go for but he ended up getting injured and was out for surgery in Jan? Looks like he's come back from that well, playing consistently since mid-Feb and scoring in his last two including in a win against Lyon last weekend.

Aye, we had scouts a few weeks ago watching him.

I think I posted early in the season about Hackney - went to the Norwich v Boro game when visiting my nephew in August. Looked like a cross between Tonali and Rob Lee, more forward drive like Lee than Tonali has regularly shown. I think Ipswich agreed a fee last summer for ~20m but he decided to stay to help Boro get promoted.

Can imagine only one RB and Miley covering

Maybe only Barnes on LW with Joelinton and Ramsay covering

Schar retained etc

Unless he’s agreed to blood more youngsters after the crunch meeting.

No point in the DoF identifying and buying young talent if they never have a chance of making the first team.

You could get T Gabriel for under 15m, same with Methalie - absolute no brainer imo

So Murphy and Willock made available according to the times.

Ramsey mentioned elsewhere.

Tonali, Tino, Wissa, Pope, Gordon and Woltemade also all supposedly available or linked away..

Krafu and tripps gone, potentially Schar too.

Im not against a big rebuild. Essentially we need it, but losing even half of those would be radical!

Not convinced we will bring in upgrades at this point with no europe. We are already linked to other clubs failures and cast offs which shows how much we have regressed.

Will be an interesting summer either way.

No reason we can’t upgrade on Willock, Murphy, Wissa, Wolt, Pope and Trippier (not from when he first signed). I think it’s hard not to upgrade on some of them tbh.

I assure you that Tiago for 15m is a utopia (in January Brentford offered 20 and they refused), 30 is more realistic and in any case even at 30 it's a bargain.

Should be fairly easy to upgrade on all of those going off this season.

The fume on here when more than half on that list are still here come end of August.

I reckon Murphy will retire here. Probably happy on a lower wage, loves the club and won't kick up a fuss if only a backup utility player for remaining years. Eddie probably see's him as a model pro etc.

We still need a core of leadership players who keep standards high and inform new players what it means to represent Newcastle even if those players aren't first 11 moving forward like Burn and Murphy. Especially if there is a high turnover of players this summer.

Murph is a shock to be linked away.

We have needed to upgrade and make him backup for 3 years at least. He is still our best RW!

He is fine as backup. Dont begrudge him a move either but dont see the need to move him on.

Would happily keep him as a back up and locker room leader.

We need an upgrade on the right side this summer, yes dressing room dynamics are important but if it’s one in and one out Murphy goes for me.

Out of contract next summer as well, we need to trade better and if there’s a market for him this summer sell.

The FM style rebuild people are posting are hilarious

Wilson conducted an FM rebuild at Forrest, it’s not outlandish to suggest we need one after seasons of no significant trading and ageing squad.

It might be out of Howe’s control and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a minimum of 6 arrive this summer.

Pleasantly surprised to see that about Murphy.

Every indicator has been we wouldnt be going for a RW, but seems we might be after all.

Going into a season with a new LW, Barnes, Murphy and gambling on Elanga to come good would have been the end of the season before it even began.

Rather see Elanga shifted than Murphy to be fair. He's a leader and a character and on his day is the best crosser of the ball we have. Keep.
