NUFC Transfer Rumours

Bruno out, McTominay in, Eddie Howe’s Brexit Mags.

Contract extensions for Ritchie, Dummett, Lascelles and Wilson to protect dressing room chemistry.

Can’t see anyone complaining about 40% rise in season tickets this summer.

Craig Hope is dreadful, always sh*t stirring, always negative, always looking for the angle to destabilise, awful man.

A lot of the Phillips talk is pushed by Hope saying we need a DM as if he is a tactical genius first, and journalist second. Howe has previously mentioned he likes to play with three central midfielders who are completely interchangeable as opposed to the fixed positioning of a DM as it gives more freedom, flexibility and options. Tonali was the perfect fit for this, as he has lots of attributes to suit this, along with Bruno, Joelinton, Longstaff and Willock, all tremendous athletes ideally suited to an interchangeable three man midfield, where they can all perform the various functions without ever being limited to one role.

And whilst we may well sell Bruno in the summer if a huge offer arrives, in the Eales interview he only says we 'might' need to look at player trading (which could also include ridding salaries from the books or fringe players, Dummett, Manquillo, Gillespie, Fraser, Hayden, Ashby, Hendrick etc), he also hints at increased revenues through commercial deals and the current set of financials are not inclusive of Adidas, Sela or Champions League revenue, so should be funds available in the summer, just hopefully not on the likes of Solanke or Phillips.

God I hate Craig Hope.

Asked if one of Bruno Guimaraes, Sven Botman or Alexander Isak would be sold in the summer, Eales said: ‘It’s difficult to hypothesise but, if we’re offered £1billion for one of those players, then no-one could argue against that making sense.

‘If we’re going to get to where we want to get to, at times it is necessary to trade your players. It is counter-intuitive and part of the inherent system of PSR that there is an incentive to trade your players, if you want to re-invest.’

So, every player has a price? "Correct"

They all do.

I've mentioned before but watching Sports Editors on the Sunday Supplement was enough to deduce that most were/are arrogant picks who like the sound of their own word salad.

Joey Barton should have a bit of a go at them instead of lasses

Hopes definitely seen the attention that Puke Edwards gets and is pushing the negative angle more and more. Absolutely zero need to go with the “Newcastle admit to needing to sell” copy as the actual quote doesn’t say that all.

Firmly putting that preening cunt in the “ignore” file.

Bruno out for 100m and a DM,AM and RW in and we're laughing imo.

The gamble is if the players brought in flop or are not great we are then absolutely fucked. It’s such a difficult situation. Actually it’s shite having to look at selling an asset to gamble on moving forwards.

It's a gamble I'd be willing to take tbh.

It's not a gamble, if we get a 100m offer for him he's off regardless.

Bruno is as close to irreplaceable as you'll find in our current squad. Would rather sell anybody else.

Isak for me, providing he sorts his injury record out. Bruno has peaked value wise (to us anyway).

I love Bruno but if it means, by selling him, the club get to move forward by reinvestment into 4/5 quality signings, then so be it.

Liverpool did it with Coutinho (end up winning the league), Spurs did it with Bale (and ended up cocking it up), West Ham have done it with Rice (I'd argue they are a better squad now).

We aren't above selling players, in fact, it's an inevitability.

The question is, do you trust our owners to:

a) reinvest as much as possibly of the proceeds of a sale back into the playing squad?

b) make good use of the funds?

Personally, I'm 100% sure on A and fairly confident on B.

Yeah it's the only way we will progress by selling at high value and reinvesting in 2 or 3 players to improve squad. Nothing else we can do in circumstances really, hopefully they improve youth and more players come through or we identify potential early and buy before stupid prices so that we can improve squad that way
