Toonjam88
Tapsoda has a 100 million euro release clause doesn’t he?

Personally would love that as the alternative, and just fuck Palace off. Assuming we would save a chunk and not be spending close to £70 for a CB. At a guess, I’d say between £40m and £50m. The fee for Guehi is wildly inflated and £50m for a defender is a great deal for many clubs

I think it would probably be what we were offering for Guehi. Interesting that Ornstein says we are "talking" to Leverkusen about it. Must mean we sense it's a deal within our range? Alberto2005
Does seem a bit of a random update to me, Ornstein usually puts out things when they're more advanced. Maybe this is a push to Palace to stop messing about.

That should have allowed us to go get a new CB and LW. Too much rumour and not enough signing make you go something something
J7
Ornstein is pretty reliable.

Rumours he on about 80k a week, so we could comfortably increase that for him. Good profile for us, and what we need right NOW! Don't think it would be worth going for anyone to young and inexperienced, when we need someone to be able to step in now really. Would leave us a nice chunk towards the RW also!!! Parsley
We were linked with Disasi before he signed for Chelsea so could be a long term target. Can also play RB, but would prefer Chalobah out of the two. Tapsoba doesn't seem realistic.
J7
We’ve got Burn and Krafth at the back, most of our centre backs are over 30 and two have ACL injuries. Not sure I’d be turning up my nose at Disasi based on one season at a shambolic club, who still finished ahead of us. That said, I’d rather the boy from Leverkusen. Lotus
It’s a complete fallacy to suggest we have to pay through the nose for players who would improve the squad and have genuine potential to develop into very, very good players. The fact that we did it twice with Bruno and Botman, good age, plenty of experience and good ceiling (it’s more than possible we didn’t expect Bruno to become the monster he’s become) proves this. Kid Icarus
Unless you can name a CB signing that Howe's failed on, I'm willing to bet they'll be very good.

Fail to progress the squad = lower liklihood of success = higher liklihood of losing those players we've kept next time. 59 minutes ago, HaydnNUFC said: Totally disagree. Not progressing what we already have decreases our chances of getting Europe/top 6 this season given the context of the teams around us. No Europe again next season and we can probably count the transfer requests coming in from those players you've mentioned to go to those clubs at the top of food chain that do have Europe. I do take the point but the likes of Isak could leave regardless of whether or not we get into Europe; they're so good that they'd only be moving to a bigger club anyway. It's a miserable thought I knew, but we should expect them to be linked with moves away in every single transfer window, regardless of how we're doing. I'd be disappointed if we signed no one else because the point about stagnation is a fair concern, but I'd sum it up as more of a mixed bag than a disaster. It's a minor miracle that we put £70m in our pockets at the end of June without losing any of those guys, and Kelly/Osula look like good signings. I certainly wouldn't rule out a European challenge.
