Maybe doing deals with foreign clubs is a lot easier and quicker. But we seem too keen to shop in England and deal with PL clubs instead.

Was clearly Staveley pushing it all on behalf of Howe and Nickson to the board

No idea if that post is tongue in cheek or not, but no idea why Andy Howe is the designated scape goat (see Twitter). He's one of a three man team and they don't do the bulk of the negotiating.

Don't think it's been particularly slow going to be honest. We were out the blocks pretty quickly for Huijsen and Delap, then missed out in Pedro.

 

We only submitted a new bid for Elanga on Thursday.

Is it just me or does everyone think that we shouldn’t be going after players who prioritize living in London over their football. 
Joao Pedro and now Kudus, can get TF as far as I’m concerned - wrong attitude.

I imagine we’re not prioritising those players, it’s probably very difficult to tell where a player wants to play as they’re not going to tell potential buyers they don’t want to go to somewhere outside of London if they don’t know a good option is on the table in London. Negotiating is about not showing your hand. It’s only after players get the deals they want that they talk more openly about that stuff

Think our pool of targets would be even more smaller than it is if we did 

 

What if they are a player we really want and a London move ultimately doesn’t materialise for them and they end up loving it here? For example Rob Lee…

Anyone see much of Concecaio from Porto, spent last year loaned to Juve, 30mil release clause... left footed, decent on his right, plays on the left, looks good on the right and the middle...bit small, but quality.

Just took a quick look at the Bruno thread, and it was the same old pants pissing about other clubs coming in for him, not getting deals over the line and taking too long, him not wanting to join and no chance the bid would be accepted.

 

Pretty certain it was the same for all the other players you mentioned.

 

It's always the same thing on here when it comes to transfers. Always.

We have to be more careful PSR wise now. At the start of the takeover we had a full psr cycle coz Ashley practically spent nowt. Then we got in to mess which resulted in selling two of our hottest prospects cheap and now we are taking the sensible get the best deal possible approach. 
 

I still can’t fathom how people still don’t understand this PSR is and always will be the issue 

 

also doesn’t help our targets, Delap, Pedro & Mbeumo have all decided to go elsewhere so far

Still confident we get done what we need to get done (4 in) by the deadline, but it would have been nice to even get one or two of those back for pre-season starting. Must be a bit shit as a player when you come back from the summer and there's only faces missing from when you left without any new ones added.

 

Both in terms of the mental state of this forum & also those in the club, getting the first one done will be a huge relief and a massive boost, I reckon. Just need to wait for it to happen.

 

I assume the club pushing out more content and quotes from Eddie etc next week will give everyone something to focus on other than the musings of Baldy and the other know-nowts for a bit too.

i’d be over the moon with elanga and scalvini. if we can offload one of either longstaff or willock and bring in someone who can add a bit of bite / strength as back up for joelinton, that would be ace. we looked a bit out of sorts when he was injured late season

I'd absolutely fkn love us to be linked with someone who actively wanted to join us. 

Transfer done in 2 days max. Instead of the long drawn out affairs that we are used to.

Just 1 rapid transfer to get excited about.

No issue with Andy Howe or deals taking long. 
 

It’s easier to sign Matt Targett and Dan Burn than other teams very best players.

 

Gotng after PL players is worthy of debate. But once we are doing that, and its teams most valued assets in their prime years. It’s going to take awhile to get done.  
 

We have lost some urgency and thrust from the Staveley days. That’s a problem when you don’t have an owner involved in transfers or someone with true power and influence. At least that’s not what it looks like.

It would only be where we are the only interested party at this level offering higher wages.  If not for wages, would Tonali want to join?
